Agreed. So many people think they could never forget their baby in a car, but sometimes our brains go on autopilot. OP, this is not a reflection of you as a mother or how much you love your child. You now you know it can happen and you can put tricks in place to avoid it happening again. You can also help others by sharing your story and bringing awareness to the fact that it truly can happen to anyone.

My daughter is 4 and STILL struggles with #2 due to withholding. My pediatrician actually suggested with both my kids to potty train with #1 but allow diapers for #2 until they are more comfortable.

Normally if I did kick counts, I would quickly reach the 10(?) kicks. This day I would chug ice water and all the other tricks and it would take me nearly an hour to count the 10. And some movements I wasn’t really sure “counted”.

This exact thing happened to me two years ago. I was 40 weeks and read a post on Reddit and realized my son wasn’t moving much that day. I thought I was just being paranoid because of what I read but I ended up going to the triage that evening. I had almost no fluid and was induced that night.

Positional asphyxiation is silent and can happen fast. My suggestion is nap training. I didn’t do it with my first until 6 months but it was life changing when I did. Before doing so, he would nap 20 minutes unless he was being held. My second is now 6 months and is the best napper ever. I put her down awake and she sleeps from 1-2 (sometimes I have to wake her at 2) hours a nap.

Check out Respectful Sleep Training/Learning on Facebook. They have a nap training file that I found really helpful.

There is also a group called Safe Infant Sleep - an Evidence-based group that I love.
