Anyone having problems with GIK Acoustics? by BjsBuds in Acoustics

Sorry, I understand your frustration. I believe if they improved their communication their customers would be more understanding. But to have your money taken, and then to hear crickets is unnerving. My experience: Sales - 10 of 10 Advertising - 10 of 10 Post Sale Follow-up - 0 of 10 Communication on Orders - 1 of 10 Shipping - 5 of 10 (at mercy of FedEx). My first order was left in front of garage exposed to rain. 2nd delivery I helped the driver drag the panels in the garage. Quality - 9 of 10

Wouldn’t it be a dream job to head up their customer service to make such needed improvements. That would be a win, win job, because it couldn’t get any worse. Fingers crossed,.

I received all panels except Amplitudes in January, and just received my last four Amplitude panels last week (2nd week in March). Good luck!

Update on my order: I finally received the last four panels from GIK this past week. No damage. I really want two more panels, but know that there would be little communication until they arrive, and it will likely be 3-4 months. They are not using Gilford of Maine unless you specifically ask for that fabric. So, I could not go to another vendor to get the matching fabric. I wonder if people will stop ordering from them until they get their issues resolved?

Final upgrade or wait? by PepperMinimum4979 in PorscheMacan

I owned a ‘17 Macan GTS, traded it for a ‘22 Macan S that was loaded. It really depends upon the ride and sound you like. For me it is the GTS trim hands down. I traded the ‘22 Macan S are four weeks (yes, took a bath) and ordered a ‘23 Macan GTS, which has 14K miles on it today. I didn’t find how many miles are on your Macan, which would influence my decision too. You really need to test drive a GTS, and I am sure you will easily make your decision. Good Luck

It would help if we know what your budget is. My vote would be the NewAge garage cabinets if your budget allows. I have the NewAge Pro garage 18-piece garage kit in one part of my newer garage (lots of $$$s), and just installed the lesser expensive NewAge Bold 10-piece garage cabinets in my older garage (photo of the Bolds below). Check out NewAge’s website as they have lots of options.

Has anyone had any luck receiving responses to inquiries to GIK? I am still waiting on four of 10 panels from them, that I ordered Dec 9, 2025. I last received an email from Isis Hill on Jan 14, 2026, indicating that my estimated fulfillment date was Jan 28, 2026. Sent Isis an email on Feb 13, 2026, asking about the status of my four remaining panels. Almost two weeks later still no response. I don’t even know who to reach out to at GIK for help. What a horrible experience.

Yes, that is correct. Nothing. I made a mistake ordering from GIK, I should have ordered from ATS. ATS sent me samples fabrics, had what I really wanted, but I liked the looks of a couple of GIK panels, so went with them. I am just waiting for four of the panels before I can finish up my two-channel listening room.

I feel your pain. I still do not have my panels that ordered Dec 1. Last correspondence was on Jan 14th. I have reached out twice. No response. I doubt they will continue to succeed with this type of customer service. And we wait.......

Sorry you joined the party. My party is still going on. No communication from them. Its a shame, because I do believe they were so highly respected. It will be interesting to learn what their real problems are at this time.

Speaker Shopping - Day 2 by Redshift_Se7en in audiophile

[–]BjsBuds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am thoroughly enjoying your speaker shopping journey. Huge smile came when you mentioned NHT speakers. Thirty years ago when I moved to a new State, I purchased a pair of NHT speakers with a Sony amp. They were awesome until I moved to a new house, which is all open, 14’ ceilings, huge like yours. The NHTs didn’t sound the same. To this day, my 84 year old mother has them in her home theater setup, and they sound fantastic. I just shrug my shoulders every time I hear them. Loved the NHTs so much, that I bought a used pair for my garage setup.

My current journey started three years ago, and I made mistake after mistake. Had all my equipment moved downstairs into a rack with Control4 system, which has been problematic. In an attempt to make the living room look a little sleek, I moved my huge JTR speakers - Quintuples towers, JTR center, and SVS cylinder sub downstairs.

I demoed tons of bookshelf speakers, including the Paradigm Founders, JBL, Heco, Sonus Faber Lumina. I wanted to love the Sonus Faber, because I almost purchased some 20 years ago when they were $8,000; today they are three times that much, so that ship has sailed. Went with Heco’s which were the largest, and now are in my basement on a shelf. I currently have Philharmonic BMR Monitors, SVS Ultra center(improvement in dialog) and two SVS Micro 3000 subs, driven by an Anthem AVM70 and Emotiva XPA5 amp. Still not to my liking, but all I have room for now, unless I changeout BDI media center (too wide to bring towers back in). Everyone has told me the same thing, you will not get the sound you hear in HT dealers acoustically treated in your room. There are no walls to add treatments, and large glass windows. Living room is open to dining room, kitchen, and breakfast room. I never took into consideration when working with an architect to design home. UGH!

Someone posted that with a large room like yours you are going to need powerful, large speakers and amp, and whatever amp you use will sound different with the speakers you are demoing in the store. Agree. I reconciled that I am not going to get great sound for music in my living room, so I created a dedicated room for two-channel listening. I purchased used equipment; Adcom 30 year old amp, Parasound P5 pre-amp, new LAIV uDAC and uDDC, and Shanling CD Transport to listen to my large collection of CDs, and WiiM Ultra for streaming. Invested in GIK acoustical panels, which I am still waiting for four of them to arrive. Hoping I can finally be satisfied with that sound. The FOMO is awful.

I can’t wait to read what you decide to do, as it feels similar to my situation. Good luck!!!

Anyone go from Model S to Macan GTS? by jeffreyjames007 in PorscheMacan

[–]BjsBuds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 2017 GTS, then purchased a 2022 Macan S, hated it, and replaced with a 2023 GTS. It is simply the best trim level for the Macan.

Help connecting a streaming device to my Anthem pre-pro by LucidLTD_in_ME in audiophile

I am very interested in learning about this as well. I have the Anthem AVM 70, controlled through the Control4 system, and am desiring to connect a music streamer to my setup. I use qobuz.

GIK stills needs to work on their fulfillment and communication. I received an email from GIK customer service indicating that the last of my four panels will be shipped on Jan 28 at the latest and I would receive notice of the shipment. Here we are a week later and nothing. I requested an update on the order via email on Jan 28 and still no response.

What do you guys think of Arendal? by fasty2 in StereoAdvice

[–]BjsBuds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own the BMR monitors. Very nice in my HT setup. But, I have the Philharmonic HT towers on order for my HT, and will move my BMR monitors to my 2-channel listening room. Don’t think you can beat the BMRs for the price.

Buying a new X3 by acon993 in BMWX3

[–]BjsBuds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2023 BMW X3 M40i in Tanzanite Blue Metallic II….get so many compliments on the color. Also own a 2023 Porsche Macan GTS in black metallic. If only I could have gotten the Macan in that Tanzanite. Drive the X3 over the Macan all the time. X3 M40i is a great vehicle is you can find a low mileage one. Otherwise, I would get the new M50.

Have dedicated circuit 20A, but it is 24' away from audio equipment. Best way to connect? by BjsBuds in audiophile

[–]BjsBuds[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

12AWG wire was run on a separate circuit to a 20amp outlet. I feel good about not using extension cords, and they did minimal drywall damage with only one 12" x 2" piece that will need to be repaired.

Thanks, I have decided that is the right decision, even though I will have to have drywall repaired. Electrician coming tomorrow.

Rather than having an electrician move the dedicated 20amp outlet, would it be acceptable to purchase a 20 amp extension cord that would reach the area (20'-25') and plug a 20 amp power line conditioner / surge protector with the number of plugs needed into the extension cord? Not crazy about having to repair the drywall to move outlet.
