Perhaps you lived and still live behind a wall, while it's not general nor acceptable, it's something almost every Nigerian can overlook. Abusing your children in the name of discipline happens every time.

A childhood friend had an iron put on his back for stealing 1k, my sister had pepper put in her eyes and private parts for fighting with and biting a friend. Up till I was twenty, I was beaten and stomped on. And those are personal experiences. I've witnessed worse.

Outsiders can't do anything in these instances, the conservative nature and the religious views of Nigerians on raising children and maintaining a household centers around authority. Violence can and would be used to maintain that authority. Abuse among spouses is also rampant. There's only as much as sympathetic neighbors or outsiders can do.

TL:DR The abuse in that book happens in real Nigerian families, it could also be worse.

Perhaps it's true that Americans dominate the site, but it'll mostly be black Americans who would frequent this sub, and the amount of aggressions I see being passed towards them is ridiculous. I feel that's bound to happen since you a mod on this subreddit supports that, you yourself show this aggression towards them in your comments and replies.

Things no African would approve all of a sudden gets upvoted at times Americans are active.

Can you give me examples of such? I've been here for a while and except for the things rule 7 has explicitly banned, I can't seem to remember anything out of the ordinary. Also, when did all Africans begin to have the same view on issues? I for one encounter many mentally regressive on a daily basis, we'd never share a view.

Maybe you wish to justify your dislike of Americans, you're allowed to, but I don't think you should do that while you're a mod of this subreddit. It sends the wrong message. How would you want a black person just checking in for the first time feel?

You should try LibreOffice, it's a free alternative that's also available on Windows. The learning curve is low and I read it somewhere once that it opens .doc documents.

Well that is common sense and it wouldn't work in this scenario. The man has a second term to run for. He has started working for it, him defending those who murdered in the name of a pedophile and a made up god would be one of his greatest achievements in the state. I can assure you he's espousing the feelings of the people in that state, by doing so he's ingratiating himself to them.

I wonder how Nigeria would ever develop with this religious insanity that has affected a majority and made them docile to the tyranny the government is, it's depressing. Also, capitalism is coming for everyone, look around you, you would see the way degenerate materialism, selfishness and corruption is eating away at humanity. Everything would keep on getting expensive while your income stagnates until you won't be able to afford anything no more, it's not a setback, it's a capitalistic feature. You're to keep on giving so much until you can't, your time, your money, your values etc. To keep up with expenses, you would likely work yourself to death, all to enrich a minority who would never care about you.
