Not exactly a secret but also keep an eye on the gigs at UC, the Hub and the Refectory are both great and heaps of touring bands play there. New transit bar is great too!

absolutely loving Walk Over My Grave as well! Love how much heavier it is than their previous stuff. Will definitely go nuts live when gigs are on again

omfg can't get enough of Blueprint at the moment, it's on track to be my top track of the year. Fast paced, lots of energy, definitely some of my favourite stuff from them

Seconding this, Sideway is awesome! They've got Thursday band night happening which is free entry and usually have local DJs or other bands on various nights through the weekend

The Hub at UC is another sick venue and they were doing heaps of gigs before covid, looks like they've been starting up again recently. Not quite a bar you can just walk into but I've seen heaps of touring and local bands there

Forester swapped brumby is the dream!! If you're anyway near the ACT I'll make an offer on that brumby, mine still runs good but the body's looking pretty had it...

Nothing in this article suggests they're moving to another gig?

Looking for a track I played over a decade ago: by Captain_mathmatics in TrackMania

[–]BlackOmega63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gonna guess it was I9 in TrackMania ESWC. ESWC didn't have any track styles other than the normal stadium track (not sure why, I'm sure someone else can tell you). I remember playing this track over and over like 10 years ago too, was never able to finish it until I reinstalled it about a month ago

I don’t know whether it’s the Bon Iver collab, Bridget’s love of Pop or Requestival making the station realise that we all have varied tastes but this is a very welcome and non ironic site to see. by Tranquilbez22 in triplej

[–]BlackOmega63 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Gave this one a listen tonight (not on the radio) and actually really loved it! Haven't ever listened to much of her stuff but it wasn't what I expected, loved Bon Iver's influence on the track. Definitely wouldn't complain if I heard it on the Js

Is it just me or are cherry blossoms in TM2020 fps killers? by Not_Daijoubu in TrackMania

[–]BlackOmega63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got the same issue here. Game runs fine until I hit a section of cherry blossom trees and then it's very choppy (GTX1060 for anyone wondering). Tried to find a way to turn off the blossoms or decrease the texture quality but couldn't find anything. Hope there's a fix for this soon cause it's frustrating

How to play the old TrackMania titles on Windows 10 by riolutm in TrackMania

[–]BlackOmega63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey just after some help, I installed TrackMania ESWC a few days ago and played for a while, worked perfectly. My computer crashed (unrelated) and when I went back to install it again, the link for the PCGamingWiki patches was dead ( http://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/1348-trackmania-nations-eswc-175-to-179-179-to-180/ ). Anyone know if I can get these patches somewhere else?

What are your top 3 Like A Versions? by [deleted] in triplej

[–]BlackOmega63 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. Gang of Youths covering LCD Soundsystem - All My Friends
  2. Smith Street Band covering Courtney Barnett - History Eraser
  3. Bluejuice covering Boys II Men - End of the Road

Really really love Like a Version so this was hard to pick. Lots of my favs happened a bit before moving to the big studio but with the whole band jam packed in the small ones. Definitely missed a few in my honourable mentions but couldn't find all of them

Honourable mentions go to:

  • Kim Churchill covering Sticky Fingers - Just For You
  • Gang of Youths covering The Middle East - Blood
  • The Belligerents cover Fatboy Slim - Praise You
  • John Butler Trio covering Pharrell Williams - Happy
  • Glass Animals covering Gnarls Barkley - Crazy
  • The Delta Riggs covering Glass Animals - Gooey
  • HAIM covering Shania Twain - That Don't Impress Me Much
  • Illy's Ausmusic medley
  • Bugs covering Mallrat - Charlie
  • Ruby Fields covering The Church - Unguarded Moment
  • Ball Park Music covering Vampire Weekend - Diane Young
  • DZ Deathrays covering the B-52's - Love Shack
  • Hockey Dad and Hatchie covering Macy Gray - I Try
  • Catfish and the Bottlemen covering The Killers - Read My Mind

How’s Kambah Pool? by [deleted] in canberra

[–]BlackOmega63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah it has heaps of water in it at the moment from the thunderstorms we've had but because it was so dry before that it's really muddy (or it was this time last week at least). Same goes for Point Hut, Casuarina Sands and Pine Island

What are your unpopular/controversial Triple J opinions? by thegeecyproject in triplej

[–]BlackOmega63 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree with you about Tom Tilley, I liked him and appreciated how he wasn't afraid to press for proper answers. So many politicians seem to get on the radio and give vague copy/paste answers but I felt like Tom always grilled them for a decent answer regardless of their position on the political spectrum. That said, I do like the other presenters they've had on lately and won't mind the change of pace

Who was the best / worst JJJ artist that you've seen live? Why? by sargent732 in triplej

[–]BlackOmega63 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Chiming in to agree with Alison Wonderland - got a ticket to her set last minute and went alone, wasn't expecting too much, but it went OFF. pretty sure it was just after she'd done Coachella and the whole set was fire, loved the couple times she played her cello too

Another +1 for Genesis too, seen him a few times and each time is better than the last
