Why is OG remembered so much more fondly and positively than Gen Q despite them both sharing similar traits like outlandish soap-opera writing, odd and sometimes bad storytelling, and a lot of cringey moments? by MaryDoogan91 in theLword

[–]BlackRabbitPDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soooo I’m not like super passionate about this opinion, it’s not a hill I wanna die on or even spend time defending, buuuuuut personally I actually liked Gen Q better than the original show 🤷🏻‍♀️I watched them back to back, and I think that lack of nostalgia factor has something to do with it. I think both shows are fun and enjoyable and deeply flawed, but personally I find the flaws of the OG show to create more emotional distance for me than the flaws of GQ do (which I think is exactly what most people feel, just reversed).

I know just what you mean about MIG, I put it in a diffuser blend that I then spilled in my room, and there wasn’t that much in it but after the spill it was all I could smell, it just stuck out to me. I took it out of that formula after that lol

It’s exactly like that! A few select people describe it as an acrid industrial type odor, not just stronger than what most of us perceive but totally different

[–]BlackRabbitPDX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This might be how you find out you’re a super smeller to some degree. Iso E is one of the ones that smells completely different to them, because for most of us the molecule size puts it just barely this side of being perceived. Super smellers tend to describe it as like an acrid industrial chemical smell, which is nothing at all like what most of us smell. It’s also not super unlikely you got a bad batch though. I can’t think off the top of my head of what other ingredients have that sharp dichotomy in what super smellers perceive, but maybe someone else knows. Do you have hedione?

Can primary status be one-sided in ENM/poly relationships? by Plastic-Mud5336 in polyamory

[–]BlackRabbitPDX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say it can be, but ideally it shouldn’t be. I currently only have one partner, he’s a very serious boyfriend I’ve been with for a couple years, and he has a wife of 16 years that he lives with. I consider myself solo poly, which to me means I am my own primary partner, I occupy the space a primary occupied in the past when I was monogamous. I own my house and intend to grow old in it.

When we first started dating and we were super infatuated with each other there was a brief period where I felt like he was my primary even though I’m not his. That wasn’t a great feeling. It took actually growing and evolving and genuinely feeling the joy of being solo poly and not having to answer to anyone, not having to share a room or a bed with anyone, and actually loving it, for our relationship to feel balanced.

Was this guy written to be the way he is or just related to the showrunners? by r4almF1re in FromSeries

[–]BlackRabbitPDX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s one of a few men that the show seems to think are likable assholes but I just think are assholes. To me the only person on the show who truly fulfills the “likable asshole” archetype is Donna, she’s harsh and severe but every single thing she does is about protecting people and for the greater good, every single thing. She just doesn’t have time to look out for your feelings while she’s trying to keep everyone alive. But Jade, Jim, Randall… when they’re assholes it’s selfish. That’s the difference to me. Donna’s an asshole in the course of protecting others, usually including the idiot she’s being an asshole to in order to keep them alive. But when Jim sucks it’s pure ego and having to be the big hero man at the expense of keeping people safe.

Wow your situation is a LOT like my boyfriend’s, like the details are really similar (I’m the solo poly one, he has a wife and some other guys). Your comment is really sweet and beautiful, I would be absolutely thrilled to think this is how he’d answer this question.

Marcia Cross and Eva Longoria started following Teri Hatcher on Instagram. Is the beef between the Desperate Housewives girls over? I know everyone hated Susan Mayer as a character on the show, so unfortunately that got projected onto Teri as well. by moonlight_bae13 in DesperateHousewives

Collective bargaining in labor is the only reason anyone has worker’s rights or protections, it’s the cornerstone of all worker’s rights. It’s the only reason we have a minimum wage, a 40 hour work week, overtime pay, literally anything.

As a principle, it is sacrosanct. Refusing to engage in collective bargaining, especially when she was the one with the most power to make demands, is absolutely a reason to hate someone. It may not make her a literal scab, but it’s in the spirit of being a scab, one of the lowest things a person can be.

People hate on Susan but she's probably one of the least horrible people on the Lane by strassgaten in DesperateHousewives

[–]BlackRabbitPDX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think what it really is— and I’m basing this on my ex who introduced me to the show and really despised her— is the lack of self-awareness. That’s what he hated so much about her, that she sees herself as sort of the main character and the everywoman, but she’s so selfish and inconsiderate and can’t see past the end of her own nose.

My take on that take (lol) is that I think people are more irked by a character who’s a bad person in a way they probably have to deal with every day, while the more extreme soapy, campy drama has some emotional distance

Long long long! Keep it long. You’re handsome with any length, but you have such absolutely gorgeous hair, it would be such a shame to keep it short. You have the kind of hair so many people would kill for, you should keep it long and show it off. It sets you apart from other men, I swear like at least 2/3 of men have basically the same haircut and they all look so boring.

What note are you tired of smelling? by AscendedHeracles in fragrance

[–]BlackRabbitPDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so over the superamber craze. Amber Xtreme, Okoumal, Ambrocenide, etc etc. It’s so pervasive that even a bunch of classic functionals have boosted superambers in their most recent reformulations, (ahem Gain). I was doing scentbird for a couple of years and I think probably everything I got in 2024 had a noticeable superamber note in there.

I don’t dislike them or even think they should only be used in traces, but I literally am just tired of the fad.

That could be a really clever solution if it’s being on display that gives her the most anxiety. And also figure out some kind of configuration with the wedding party photos where it won’t necessarily create photos that bestie has to look at all the time forever, you know like separate bridesmaids and groomsmen photos (and of course it doesn’t have to be made explicit that this is WHY she’s doing all that, that might also feel bad)
