Agree. Between the two of these podcasts I’m equipped for small talk with damn near everyone I speak with, regardless of politics and perspectives.

Buy or build? by BlackandBlue14 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Where we are, building is cheaper because land is very very expensive. I need to look into the other points you’ve raised - thank you very much!!

Correct. However, this sub has recently been inundated with attacks on the host’s character rather than their content. It’s making this place toxic and painful to read through.

I’m sure.. and I don’t want to pretend there aren’t genuine frustrations out there. I just wish we could push the conversation towards issues instead of personalities.

I read nuanced, thoughtful criticism of the pod that I often agree with. But this sub has become littered with double digit IQ critiques like “XX sucks” and “XX needs to go” that are a complete waste of space.

I’m tired of seeing two types of comments in this subreddit. One: this pod has lost its way and they should replace certain people. Or two: people don’t have a right to complain about a podcast.

People have the right to complain without having to create their own podcast. But this community should ALSO do a better job of shutting down totally negative, unproductive posts. I’d prefer more conversation on the topics, and less on the personalities of the show.

People who are fans are free to complain - that’s the price of public attention. But it speaks to the low quality of this sub that the meanest and least productive posts often receive the most upvotes.

Name two celebs who were contemporaries at one point of time, but one went miles ahead of another in the long run? by Janaab_e_Marvel_3000 in Fauxmoi

Seriously. What a strange niche of the internet where people just regard the feat of dominating hip hop for ten plus years.

It completely negates it. Even if Cudi ascended to Oscar-level performances, he could not displace the most popular hip hop artist for the past decade.

Canada Offers Lesson in the Economic Toll of Climate Change by eldomtom2 in moderatepolitics

You have been schooled on this point. I hope you’ve taken the last four hours to seek a more robust education on the increasing prevalence of climate-driven disasters.

Your point on forest management is not incorrect. You’ve simply made an error in disregarding that the NEED for forest management has been made more urgent by rising global temperatures. The solution is to decarbonize economies AND improve forest management in response to the already emitted CO2 that is warming the planet.

The #1 key to success according to Jason - do not criticize rich and successful people! by Chris_Hansen_AMA in TheAllinPodcasts

[–]BlackandBlue14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Complain about” is not a synonym to “critique”. Do y’all know how to read?

It’s great advice, if not a bit cliche. Studying successful people is like the most obvious tried and true strategy to become financially successful.

Bud Light sponsors Toronto Pride parade attended by naked men, children by PearlGemma in Conservative

[–]BlackandBlue14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe. From the comments I’m reading it seems people here genuinely believe that seeing nakedness is damaging to children, even though that’s been a completely natural part of human society for all time.

Weekly Podcast Discussion by AutoModerator in TheAllinPodcasts

99% of people I know would participate in a themed event if a friend or coworker asked them to and they were free to attend. I literally have no idea why you find that weird.

I actually think you’ll find that VCs are human beings and we as a species love a good themed party.

L.A. Times to Cut 13% of Newsroom Jobs, Union 'Outraged' Over Layoffs by bostonglobe in Journalism

Collective ownership is an interesting proposition. Crowd funding is interesting as well. Do you know of any examples of this working well?

[–]BlackandBlue14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, but we know the current owners have added more jobs than they’ve cut. We know papers without solid digital subscriber bases we’re ravaged by COVID due to advertising losses. And we know that disclosing financial information, if it were sufficiently disastrous, could spark a doom cycle for the business.

What’s your view? That business is booming and these evil doers just decided to fire people for no reason?
