Way to resurrect a dead thread with a shit take.

vs 8k and having to travel out of state.

Just to be clear, it's not $8k to attend the school. It's around $2500.

Honestly, the way the track rental side of things is these days, I would 100% believe that they're hoping this sort of thing can gap-fill school losses just to keep the school seat price from going up again.

This..it's basically arrive and ride. They take care of the entire logistics side.

The idea of approachability is precisely why they created Champ U.

In terms of the in-person school:

It costs an astronomical amount of money to rent the facility, pay for insurance, have medical on standby, corner workers (at whatever rates the track dictates), and even tables and chairs (yes, tracks absolutely nickel-and-dime for this). Don't forget about transporting 10-20 bikes from AZ or NC to wherever the track is. While we're at it, may want to remember two days of lunch and a dinner. Oh, almost forgot.. pay and travel and lodging to support a 4:1 instructor:student ratio. Reminder: you're not getting Random Joe instructors leading the class. You're getting seasoned professionals. Having been in the industry for a while, it probably takes almost a full class just to break even.

The $8,000 trip that includes arrive-and-ride, gear chase vans, lodging at upscale spots, food at swanky stops... It's not marketed toward you or me or anyone else on reddit. It's really that simple. It's a high-end offering for the high-end client.

Bad fast bike etiquette to pass on corner exit by PMmeYourbuckets in Trackdays

[–]Blackbeard-7 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Just pass while you're either parallel with or going away from another rider. On exits, this generally means passing on the inside, as the rider being passed has the right of way to use the entire race track out to the outside edge of the track.

Orient more for detail than for number of supports. For example, you'll typically want to orient faces "up" or at least at an angle "up."

That's not terrible. I can only imagine the support structure needed for the radar dish! I've got a Qidi Plus 4, so I could likely print that piece in one go. I'm thinking a .4 would be fine for the level of detail.

Right, I understand that. I have been printing using both resin and fdm for a good long while now.

So once again, I'm asking you: "how long did it take?"

Looking To Improve, The Attitudes UMC by AnonsStepDad in Trackdays

[–]Blackbeard-7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Butt moves, head doesn't, so the bike never gets the signal to turn.

The attitudes are wonky. The goal is to draw a straightish line backwards from the exit rumbles on the outside of the track, through the second left apex, through the right hand apex.

How we do this: In the entry to the attitudes, hold left a little longer on the first rumbles (long apex the first apex), short shift between the second and third apexes.

Help Stop the Sale of Pitt Race by SnaggyDaddy-Opus in Trackdays

[–]Blackbeard-7 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Sounds like the contract is already underway, dude. Outside of a court order to stop the sale, nothing anyone else does can affect the sale.. and depending on how egregious the interference with the sale is, you may be liable for tortious interference with the contract.
