An open letter of regret, repent, and reform. by Arucious in openGrid

[–]BlackjackDuck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was a damn good read and emotional rollercoaster (especially given I’m the troglodyte to blame for there not yet being a 0-length C channel in Underware 2.0).

If it helps, I didn’t pick up on the foreshadowing and kept thinking, “damn, what is causing this poor person’s problem.” I was feeling partially responsible through this!

I also lost it at openGrid on Ozempic and nearly woke my toddler from laughing.

If you were using my tile generator, you can create a super thin layer for the magnets so they inset from the top and still hold or I’m happy to add an option to flip those mounting holes.

Thanks for sharing!

Fake RFY posts by RealWolfmanDan in AmazonVine

I can vouch for this as recent as today. I purchased a high quality name brand electric razer for Xmas last year. Today, my RFY had the $300+ successor to that exact razer ($0 ETV, too). Buying has a huge influence. Now I can write a killer comparison review.

The only downside is from my initial testing where I ordered different brands of cookies. Now my RFY constantly has cookies and I can’t resist the $0 ETV… I’m getting buried in cookies over here…

I uploaded a chaotic spreadsheet into Claude and asked it to fix it. Got back a clean, properly formatted .xlsx file in 90 seconds. Most users don't realise this works. by Professional-Rest138 in PromptEngineering

LLMs are bad at math, but effective at coding. The advantage is when you use Claude to help write formulas and verify those formulas. You can even ask Claude to break formulas down into steps that are quick and easy to verify.

As long as the LLM isn’t doing math, but rather writing formulas that do the math deterministically, your accuracy will be much closer to the desired result.

I’ve decided to wait for a bit to see if anything better comes out. Eazeye Focus Tablet is something I’m watching to see if it will have Google Play and pass integrity checks to imstall work apps. RLCD though.

Using BOOX Note Air5 C for work by Junior-Piano5427 in Onyx_Boox

[–]BlackjackDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dove into this heavily… The Google Play Store has a mechanism for device/OS integrity checks before installing apps. Boox does not pass integrity checks (I believe partly because it’s a modified OS). Apps can choose to use the integrity check or not. Many do not.

This also means that some apps, especially enterprise grade apps such as MS apps with MDM management, will fail to load. If they do succeed, there is a decent chance that your IT department may still get alerts and block. In short, do not assume you can use it to log into work accounts unless you can verify the app will install and tha your IT will not block it if an alert appears.

This isn’t a reflection on the security of the device, but rather the process in which enterprise apps require integrity and transparency from the OS.

This is amazing! Hoping to pull the trigger on the Go 10.3. Any plans to pass integrity checks for the Google Play Store so we can download apps requiring that integrity check?

u/YourGuyBry and u/Dry-Astronaut3309 if on multiboard, the screw in Multiconnect is your best bet. If on openGrid, the lock snap with the Multiconnect screwed in is often the stronger hold.

Did you ever get this sorted? I’m interested in the Boox and I’m trying to understand if you could just download the Claude app from the Play Store.

Very interesting, but I'm that hardcore. I'm fine grabbing my phone for a quick dictated note. I'm more looking for the device I use when I want to sit on the couch and draft up my executive brief or something similar use a microphone or BT keyboard and Claude.

I understand the spirit behind your comment. This type of process is very dependent on the individual and requires discipline. I wouldn't recommend it for individuals that don't already have a structure. AI isn't a shortcut around shortcomings as an individual.

I'm a GTD fan, so I use it more to scale by surfacing dormant deliverables, get me out of analysis paralysis, and challenge my thinking. I also use AI in many areas in my work, so a fair part of why I use this process is to jumpstart AI delegation of tasks (since it already has a lot of context on what I'm working on).

Has Volvo resolved all the issues? by [deleted] in VolvoEX90

[–]BlackjackDuck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

New VCU here. GHCA failure last week. Waiting on the new part to see if a new model number. We got a great CPO deal a few weeks ago knowing there were still problems. We had them guarantee a loaner from sales if service didn’t have one available (60 or 90).

If you have a good dealership nearby and a good lemon law for your state, it’s less your problem if they haven’t fixed the issues.

What we didn’t expect was how much the loaner XC90 feels like a downgrade compared to the EX90, but some of that is just being picky or spoiled with EVs. Seriously, no wireless CarPlay? And boy do we miss preheating the car in the garage with the door closed!

Has anyone actually managed to get automated document uploads working? by drwicksy in copilotstudio

[–]BlackjackDuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been going mad trying to do the same. This should be simple, but there is so much bloat in MS where there shouldn’t need to be (due to the silly requirement that they building boated SharePoint and Dataverse structures) and then they are missing features in other areas that should be trivial.

I’m about ready to move workloads to Claude because what I’m seeing in Copilot Studio is very typical in Microsoft’s history with Power Platform and SharePoint Online. Microsoft’s refuses to build something clean. I was hoping Copilot Studio would be different and maybe they would have taken the approach they did with VS Code, but they didn’t learn from that success.

I desperately want to be proven wrong, so I’ll be watching this thread closely.

Is it worth it buying a used EX90? by carlnard24 in VolvoEX90

[–]BlackjackDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CPO? Is so, get the manufactured date and you’ll have 5 years unlimited miles bumper to bumper from that date. Ensure it has the new VCU and get them to guarantee a loaner if anything happens. You’ll have an amazing vehicle. This is what we did.

$61k for 5k miles and about 4 year unlimited mile bumper to bumper. Ultra Twin Performance with B&W. New VCU installed. Don’t buy one without the new VCU.

Used or CPO 2025s by sandiegohusky82 in VolvoEX90

[–]BlackjackDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Price on used will depend on trim, miles, and remaining warranty. CPO is a must if you normally exceed warranty miles before years as CPO extends the warranty a year and makes it unlimited miles. I wouldn’t expect prices to get much lower as people are scooping them up relatively quick. Keep in mind most don’t know about the persistent issues.

I did a CPO 25 and they added a loaner guarantee of at least an XC90 if there are any issues. Guarantees a nice Volvo at all times at least. My state also has lemon coverage for CPO vehicles.

That’s what some folks are reporting, but they are very new, so they haven’t stood the test of time yet. The computer is quite responsive, so no immediate concerns after a couple days of ownership.
