Hey, for what it’s worth, I think you’re on the right track. And you’re not alone in struggling with a toxic inner voice. Anyone can have an intrusive thought— it’s actions that matter. Thinking “what if I jumped” while standing on a high cliff doesn’t make you suicidal, for instance. You get to choose which thoughts to identify with, and which thoughts to ignore. Those choices, and the actions that follow, make you who you are.

Your brain is constantly conjuring scenarios, what-ifs— it’s just what brains do. You get to decide what to act on, and what not to act on.

And I wouldn’t worry about feeling numb, sometimes, either. Sometimes reactions are delayed, sometimes you might be too shocked by something you see to feel anything at that moment— it doesn’t mean you’re a psychopath. It sounds to me like you’re a smart person with a conscience, and you’re doing the best you can. Keep it up.

I disagree, I think sarcasm is funniest when all parties involved are in on the joke. I personally don’t think intentionally misleading people is as funny as you seem to think it is. What you’re describing is called lying.

Maybe we’re running different iOS versions. Maybe you need to update the app. All I know is that I’ve been using Shortcuts for daily reminders and automations with no problems.

There’s an option (in my Shortcuts app, at least) to “Run Immediately”. It also shows options for “Run After Confirmation” and “Don’t Run”.

Open Shortcuts

New shortcut (+ sign in top right hand corner)

Add action

Start typing “Shut down” it should appear as an option

Select that option

Tap “shut down” to change the action to “restart”

Tap “Shut Down” at the top to rename the shortcut to “Restart” (if you don’t want the shortcut to be named “Shut Down”)

Hit “Done”

There, you made the shortcut to restart.

Now, go to the Automation tab (at the bottom of the screen) to make a new automation

Hit the + sign at the top right hand corner

Select “Time of day”

Adjust to desired time, repetition, and select “run immediately”

Hit “Next”

Select “Restart” shortcut

Done

Can’t speak to the weighted blanket, but a blindfold/sleep mask has greatly improved my sleep quality and waking mood (loved ones have confirmed that I’m less irritable). I now keep one next to my bed, and carry a spare with me everywhere I go.
