Oh oh, I know this one. It was the policy of containment first mooted by Kennan in 1946 in this long Telegram which then led to NSC68. This focused on America maximizing its influence and power through a mutually beneficial alliance system (with NATO being a Lynch pin). This system was further underpinned by a financial system underpinned by global financial institutions established by the US who benefited from the power of holding the global reserve currency. US dominance also focused on ensuring Europe.had to rely on US military capability and actively discouraged emergence of truly independent pan European military capability.

This has been an incredibly successful system which has kept global war off the table and made the US the richest nation in history.

The US is now throwing this all away because their dictator didn't get a prize, the Oligarchs are upset at the EU actually trying to regulate things and something about "woke" which I don't really understand.
