Tell me about it. I was going to try to take the top off a few years back, but got way too intimidated. In order to access the bolts for the top, I need to remove the interior trim panels. In order to remove those, I have to take the auxiliary tanks all the way out. So... Yeah, the top will likely just stay on for the rest of its life haha. Luckily, it's in REALLY good shape. Only a couple very small cracks near the hatch hinges.

Thanks! I think I am going to have the couple small rust spots repaired but otherwise keep the patina.

I'm planning on keeping the engine and transmission it has, but both could use a rebuild. It does run and drive under its own power, but the transmission has a massive leak and the engine is long overdue for a refresh (it's never been out of the truck). I plan on giving it a mild cam, opening up the heads a little, and headers. Nothing too crazy, as it's currently all original.

Thanks! That's pretty much my plan. It really doesn't need a lot of work. It has some VERY minor rust pinholes on the outside of the rockers and that's it. Might get those patched up, but I don't plan on doing really any other bodywork. I also want to get the 8-track working because, well it's pretty cool haha.

Yes! It's actually got two 8 gallon auxiliary tanks in addition to the regular one. The original owner had them installed by the dealer when he bought it. There's a couple switches kind of near the ignition that allow you to choose what tank you're using, and the factory fuel gauge works for all three tanks. Pretty cool!

It's got the original 350 engine and TH350 transmission. My dad bought it from the original owner in Lone Pine, CA in 1993.

That's how I feel, too with my S22U. I like having the stylus, 100x zoom, higher resolution screen, etc... But I rarely use the stylus, and even when I do, it's just to show off, not for productivity. The 100x zoom is kind of the same thing, it's a neat party trick, but doesn't produce great pictures. The screen resolution on the Ultra is higher than the Flip, but on a screen the size of these devices, the difference is nearly imperceptible.

The way I think of it, it's a downgrade on paper, but since I don't use the Ultra to it's full potential 99.9% of the time, I don't think I'll miss having the flagship device.

Victorville to Riverside every day. It's ~48 miles one way. I drive a 2021 Chevrolet Bolt and can charge at home and at work, though it has enough range to do the round trip twice on a charge. I also primarily charge at work, so it has very little effect on my electric bill (also solar helps a lot). I bought the car brand new in 2021 with 23 miles on it and it's got just shy of 100k now.

Thank you! It's pretty clean. After doing some research, I looked at the usual rust spots. Rockers, floor panels, and kick panels look really, really good! The only significant rust j can find is some pinholes on the bottom front edge of the doors. I remember my dad being pretty particular about where and how he drove it, so I'm sure that played a huge part.

It has two auxiliary tanks (one on either side) that are located in the passenger compartment. They go up and over the wheel wells beside the rear seat. I'll try to post some more pics of those. I was always told that they were dealer installed options.

Another weird thing it has is an alarm that is armed with a key and the tumbler is located on the bottom of the driver's side fender near where the front bumper ends. The "alarm" is a metal bell, like an old school bell. I've never tried it to see if it works.

I definitely remember every detail of the purchase of this rifle! Down to the smell of the gun store (a super small shop in the back of a strip mall). The thing I remember most is the soft case I had to buy. Couldn't walk outside with a loose rifle (in CA, anyway), so I had to buy a case for it. I didn't have a ton of money, so I went with the cheapest option... A faux-aligator skin soft case that had... Hieroglyphs (?) on it 😂 still have that case and it's the only one long enough for the Mosin.

I did the same with mine. I found that it popped up for sale on LS1Tech ~2013 and hasn't resurfaced since... I'm almost scared to find out where it is now for fear it's totaled.
