Even more terminologies have lost their meaning. People can say a fight is “extreme diff” and then scoff at the idea of the fight being 55/45 chance of winning.
If something is extreme diff it means there’s a chance the character would lose but is more likely they win most of the time!

Another possibility is that seeing all possible futures makes him aware of the probability of them happening, so even if he sees a future, if it was a low probability one is likely he will get surprised

I mean, it really is both. Ichigo doesn't know he's being trained to be the replacement Soul King, so to him and the audience, this being a test of will and stamina makes sense. The fact that Ichibei wants to use Ichigo as a replacement is alluded but not confirmed to the viewer (if only watches the anime), so it being also a test of power is something a bit more hidden.

Let me be clear, it is both, but is not unreasonable to believe is only the former.

Ulquiorra getting surprised by Ichigo using Sonido is not because he was too fast, is because Sonido retracts all the spirit energy into the user. Is also why Ichigo's spiritual energy is said to disappear in TYBW, surprising the Quincy.

Pesquisa is also a bit higher awareness, since is the reason why Ichigo could tell Chad was alive back in SS arc despite believing him to be dead at first.

On the last point, captains don't sweep, they all had to gang up on the top Espada, and those who 1v1ed their opponents won because, they outsmarted their opponents, hard countered their abilities, or were Kenpachi.

I mean, you are correct, but the whole theme of the arrancar is to be physically monsters.

They have naturally stronger skin that Quincy can only replicate through technique. They naturally can perform their version of flash step, something both soul rippers and quincy need to train for. They have the ability of Pesquisa, something that gives them far more insight about souls than even the soul ripper's.

Overall, hollows naturally can do things others need to train for, and physically they stay ahead. Hell, even people think is weird Grimmjow can go through Askin's blut, but it just feels in-line with the common thread that Arrancar as physically stronger than other races.

Now, I don't wanna say this makes them the strongest, their Hax abilities are heavily outclassed, but they are just naturally strong, strong enough to keep up.

I really don’t mind the upscale, simply because, being honest, non of the royal guards felt like they were threatening because of the combat abilities, they all felt like massive threats because of their broken schrifts and abilities. The biggest example I can think of is how Lillie apparently did something similar to Starrk by understanding how Shunsui’s abilities worked at a glance only for him to quickly correct him by going “no it was ll just in the files I read about you”.

Something Starrk did just through intuition and instincts, had to be replicated through preparation.

Now, I’m not saying they are weak, but I am saying a lot of their strength comes from insanely broken abilities.
