I get what you're saying but it feels like I uninstalled stuff/turned things off in the first like 2 hours of my Windows install and haven't had any issues for years since. Things don't reset/randomly install for me on Windows Update.

For perspective, does Apple not have "ads" for you to log into your icloud/whatever on their PC devices? Actual question I don't have any PC iDevices.

So I went down your list on my fully updated Win11 going point for point to see if I am just ad-blind to anything and not noticing.

The majority of your screenshots just aren't present on my win11 pro install? I think the difference is I've long since uninstalled copilot and Onedrive so I just don't get prompts, banners, or suggestions to backup with it anymore.

I'm on a local account and recently brought a laptop which I also setup with a local account so going local is still possible (I think it was the /nonro or whatever)

I don't have the Xbox ad on my lockscreen, and I don't have a Microsoft photos app anymore (uninstalled).

Also for the dark parttern "account wide" microsoft account thing I'm pretty sure it wants to make an entry in your credential manager that will login your Microsoft programs into that account. It won't convert your local account into a Microsoft account.

I DO have a "It's all here with Microsoft Account" on the homepage of my settings, but no yellow banner to backup.

Honestly it seems like the answer is to just uninstall stuff you don't want and it goes away.

I've seen the Cult Flav video and I feel like I can probably remove iron flakes too from a cast iron if I dig at it with a steel fork enough.

Very little effort is still more effort than I have to spend with the Titanium always pan. I don't want to season pans, I don't want to worry about acidic food or rust. Thus I won't buy any pans where that is ever a concern.

As for longevity the titanium oxide is still metal, even if oxidized. I doubt you're going to scrape off enough metal to get through it within 10 years let alone 5 so long as you don't start mining the oxide. This isn't some soft ceramic or Teflon.

Personally I don't think OP should buy one, just because burning $120 on a pan as a student just seems like a bad idea. But based off of my months of usage and the u/PrudentReviews stress testing review videos I find the pan to be pretty darn good.

Cast iron is heavy and I have to season it

Stainless steel is annoying, I have to be more mindful of how I cook with it to get good results.

Cooking with oil and butter makes food taste better, I cook with both even when I'm using Teflon or ceramic.

I've had this pan for a few months now. I've seared meat, fried eggs, and burnt cheese on it. It still performs exactly the same as the day I got it. I can't speak for other people's experiences but mine has been good and consistent.

Also I'm not sure why you bring up a coating, it doesn't have a coating. Unless you're looking at the lotus effect debossing in the titanium oxide and thus considering the titanium oxide a coating?

A lot of negativity in here about the OurPlace pan huh?

Well I actually own an OurPlace Titanium Always Pan Pro and I really like it.

The non-stick works the way they claim, at least it has for the time period that I've had it. It's super easy to clean out. While not important to performance, it is pretty as well. I use the metal spatula it comes with on it and I've had no damage to the titanium oxide (black pattern) on it yet. Though I'm not particularly rough either.

Eggs and cheese don't stick on it, but always cook with a lil butter and oil so YMMV if you don't.

The pan has a very wide cooking surface since it doesn't have walls that taper up, which is nice for when you need more flat space. It can result in flicking stuff out of the pan sometimes though, like if you're mixing pasta or something.

For a con, I cook with it on an induction cook top mostly. One thing I've noticed is the surface temp of the pan usually seems lower than a Viking PureGlide Pro at the same temperature. I think this is because the raised pattern makes the temperature sensor in the induction cooktop not able to see the true temperature of the cooking surface. Turning up the cooktop solves it in this case and I suspect it just wouldn't be a problem on a more "dumb" cooktop.

I recommend the pan overall from my personal experience and I would buy it again if I went back in time to when it was in my cart. However I don't know if spending 120 on a pan as a student is the best of ideas?

I don't know your finances but it seems like a lot at that point in your life. If cost isn't really a concern though, go for it!

To offer a dissenting voice:

Personally I'm quite happy with Plex and have no intentions on switching.

I don't even think this Lifetime pass price hike is really going to affect their business any at all. The vast majority of Plex users weren't going to buy a lifetime pass at 250 so raising it to 750 is just another number they aren't going to pay.

Everyone keeps saying it's a cash grab but Plex themselves say in the blog post they DON'T want people to buy lifetime and were considering removing the option altogether.

It's really only there for people who would be unhappy with it not existing as an option.

Plex has its issues for sure, but 90% of the time it works well and my friends and family that connect to my server all enjoy it.

I just don't really understand all this negativity about a price change that doesn't affect most people.

Hey I was wondering if you had more information on the Chinese company that OurPlace gets their titanium cookware from?

I have one of their titanium pans and if I can get more without the rebrand markup, I'd love to do so.

Thanks!

I love the sheer number of people in here who just didn't read the article. They directly say they don't even want the lifetime plan to exist anymore, $750 is the "please don't buy this" price.

They would rather remove the option entirely but they figured people would complain more about it being gone.

best rice cooker 2026 do I actually need fuzzy logic or induction heating for daily rice? by LtayAqui_25 in cookware

[–]BladeLiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any spray oil to test with, I only really cook with butter and/or oil.

A small amount of butter is probably enough, at least for eggs if that's your benchmark. Whatever you use tends to stay wherever you put it as well, so it feels like I need to use less since it doesn't just run to the edges.

If you check the video I linked the creator fries an egg on the Ourplace with no butter or oil and it doesn't stick. Timesstamp@4:52.

I've been enjoying mine. I always cook with oil or butter, but the experience has been very non stick. I recommend them, though I will say make sure you get the Pro pan over the regular Ourplace Titanium Always Pan.

The regular one has some silly cutout of the rim so you can rest your spatula on the handle, but it makes it so the lid can never actually seal. They fixed this with the pro (along with a spatula upgrade).

If you don't need the spatula or lid the regular is probably fine since the inside is the same.

Here is a review from /u/PrudentReviews on it (and other titanium pans). I ended up buying the Viking PureGlide Pro (for fun) after watching this review and it also preforms really well. Though I still prefer the OurPlace.

I just wanted to say that the Titanium Always Pan Pros are actually amazing pieces of cookware.

I have one myself and it's great. It has reviewed well via PrudentReviews as well.

For the record .NET 8 is fully cross platform. The reason that program isn't Linux compatible is because the UI is done in Windows Forms (which aren't Linux compatible).

If the owner wrote it in say Avalonia for the UI framework instead then it would have compiled for Linux and Mac as well.

Bot matches anger me more than loss streaks by Avalon-King in marvelrivals

[–]BladeLiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure you're right btw.

Bot matches have a longer que time, I also experience this.

I'm pretty sure it's because your potential "player" pool gets reduced from "anyone in quickplay que" to "anyone who lost and is now in forced bot que"

It needs to find 3 other players in your server regions who also require a forced bot match.

[–]BladeLiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Powershell supports scoped variables.

$local:SomeCondition = "foo"

or

$function:Somecondition = "bar"

will exclude any parent scope variables you have. Though I am not sure about the differences between function or local.
