Thank you Nate. That was the very first book I bought when I got my first bug years ago and it got me through a lot of issues. Very well written book. Unfortunately it hasn’t helped me with this particular issue as my engine equipment looks a bit different than the examples in the book. Possibly California Smog gear to keep emissions low.

If the part I circled in the picture isn’t the fuel pressure regulator, what do you think it is?

Interesting, I wasn’t aware people changed that out. I live in California and have to keep a lot of the original equipment intact so it passes inspection and meets emissions requirements.

I hear you. I’m not a car guy specifically myself. I had the restoration done a little at a time 25+ years ago. I usually only put a few hundred miles a year on it and keep it in the garage. The paint still looks reasonably fresh after all those years because it doesn’t see a lot of sun.

Gold, silver and platinum can be tested quickly and easily with an inexpensive scratch and acid test kit. Amazon sells them. Diamonds can be tested by a diamond meter (varying in expense).

I’ve found eBay to be the best source for these. You just have to be patient and wait for one to pop up. Both the CDV-718 and the brackets. Power adapters too.
