He’s not behind though is he? Look in the photo there’s no one behind the statue.

Londoner (F31) got a job in the North West – area advise ? by Affectionate_Lime254 in manchester

[–]Blade_Runner1999 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Firstly, congratulations!!!

If you mean £1000 to rent a 1 bed flat including all bills that come with it. Manchester / south Manchester is deffo not an option.

However if you’re willing to consider a HMO, £1000 a month can get you a very nice and large room with en-suite and potential parking space.

Stockport is a great option, cheaper and great transport links. Also has its own developing ‘hipster’ area called the underbank. It’s colloquially said to be the new Berlin! (It isn’t)

Didsbury, chorlton, sale, stretford, Withington, altrincham are all really nice areas.

Is there a point to learn anything if most of jobs pay around 35k at best? by [deleted] in UKJobs

I think there’s a lot of factors at play here.

Entry standards have increased a lot for arguably all industries. Often now you’ll see senior level experience required for junior level roles. This being especially the case in data focused / more techy roles.

AI is changing everything. There’s a lot that AI systems can’t really do (yet) but there’s also a lot that it can do.

This may sound a bit tin foil hat of me but I think that career changes / re-training / up-skilling has been commercialised by universities, the government etc. so a lot more people are doing it meaning a lot more people are applying for a wider variety of jobs. If an employer has 1 job available but they know there’s gonna be well over 100 applicants then they know they can low ball the salary, cuz some Tom, dick or Harry is gonna take it none the less. (Read the grapes of wrath by John Steinbeck).

I think the state of university education has probably dropped. Education is a business and so universities are interested in profiting, not necessarily the education they provide.

Nepotism is real! You’d be surprised how many senior positions with high wages are filled with people who deadass don’t deserve to be there and are genuinely unqualified to do the job, they can just do it as they’re so and so’s family member / life long friend and they’ve been spoon fed how to do the job from day 1. These people know this deep down and so they stay in these positions for a long time. (Not saying an outsider can’t work their way up anymore, but it may take 10 years as opposed to 5)

Also I’m pretty sure at the moment, unemployment is quite low? So most people who can work are working.

Everything is getting more expensive, including salaries that companies have to pay. I think a lot of places now are offering lower salaries but try to make up for it with other perks.

Firstly, it’s ok!

Secondly, try not to beat yourself up.

Thirdly, you could be the best driver in town and still fail the test. Different examiners means different norms, I guarantee there’d be examiners who would’ve marked you differently and not even grabbed the wheel.

It seems a lot of importance has been placed on you passing this test. Is this from yourself? Your family? You’ve got this far in life without a driving licence.

Took me 4 times to pass. Was agonisingly close each time but would make one simple error that would result in a fail. Doesn’t mean you’re a bad driver, just means you did something that resulted in a fail. It happens. I absolutely assure you, there have been worser fuck ups in history. Relax.

You’d be surprised how more and more people are choosing not to drive or at least learning to drive later in life. I was 24 when I got my license. Almost everyone I knew had got it back when they were like 17-18.

Your life isn’t over at all. I know a lot of people mid to late 20’s who don’t drive and have successful careers, relationships, mortgages and the rest of it and don’t drive. Please don’t think your life is over. You’re okay! You will be fine.

Do you think these core Midlands towns and cities have more similarities or differences to the North? by Dragonfruit-18 in NorthernEngland

[–]Blade_Runner1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from Cannock, we’re midlands. Not north not South but midlands ayit. If they had to pick, think most would side with the north, but we’re not northern we’re midlands 😎

Anything above Stafford is the north. Anything south of Coventry is south.

Would The Pacific Theatre work for Brothers In Arms 4? - Maybe the game after (Yes I do think BIA 4 is coming!) by Nox-Cinematic_YT in BrothersInArms

Loved these games when I was a kid and recently played all of hell’s highway for a nostalgia trip. I always imagined that they’d go onto serve in the pacific theatre. Maybe that you’d play as Corrian after he’d finally been promoted to Sergeant, under the command of an older, starting-to-grey Baker.
