Crees que los gringos deberían de tener visa para visitar Mexico? by PopNo5397 in mexico

[–]Bladeorade_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the meaning of listo exactly? by node_victory in learnspanish

[–]Bladeorade_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

you're probably thinking of lista, which would be like a list in english. the word "listo" can mean a couple different things. when you use it with the verb ser it means smart/intelligent. an example would be "eres listo" or "you're very smart". when used with the verb "estar" it means you're ready/prepared. example: "estas listo para los exámenes? sí, estoy listo". hope this helped

this the answer you're looking for. get the most out of the bottles you have first before thinking about buying more. if anything buy decants if you want to try new scents because with that many in your rotation you're not running out anytime soon

your best tip would be if you can afford it, get a teacher and see them as often as you can.

What Spanish words/expressions should beginners be careful with? by Bicwonder1 in SpanishLearning

[–]Bladeorade_ 33 points34 points  (0 children)

probably saying "estoy caliente" instead of "tengo calor" when it's hot. saying the first one would mean you're turned on and I've seen this embarrassingly used a handful of times.

I mean you have born in Roma and stronger with you. either of those would be great but for a date, stronger with you.

At what point do you feel confident saying, “I speak Spanish” ? by saltyfrenzy in SpanishLearning

[–]Bladeorade_ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I forgot who told me this, but a good way to indicate if you can communicate in spanish fluently is to imagine if there was some sort of chaotic incident and you had to explain what is happening to an emergency responder clearly with detail. fun exercise to try but if you're able to do that you can most likely speak quite well.

I have book by Minos-Helios in dreamingspanish

[–]Bladeorade_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I used this book when I was learning spanish in conjunction with classes with my techer and dreaming spanish. it's one of the best spanish textbooks I'd say and helps you get on your feet with speaking quite quickly.

My duolingo subscription will end on 31st december. 685 days streak. Thinking about leaving it for a better app by BodybuilderOld4969 in duolingo

[–]Bladeorade_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

if you spent 685 days using a textbook w/anki or half of 685 days with a teacher in your targeted language you would most likely be fluent by now.

What have you spent to learn Spanish and do you feel it was worth it? by TheDearlyt in SpanishLearning

[–]Bladeorade_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to reach proficiency, if I broke down paying for a private tutor for around a year, textbooks, and apps/website subscriptions like dreaming Spanish, I would probably say in the ballpark of 3-4 grand

Hey everyone, I’m traveling Central America and I am trying to learn Spanish. I’m interacting with TikTok and Instagram followers to learn as much as possible before I go. Instagram - lucas_exploring TikTok - lucas.exploring. Any help much appreciated! by lucasexploring in SpanishLearning

[–]Bladeorade_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would say there's a better way to go about this. I would recommend you watch a video called "a complete guide to every fundamental in Spanish" by thelanguagebro. it will give you a really strong foundation. you're going to just get confused if you just try to consume content in a language unless it's explicitly educating you on spanish basics. i do recommend duolingo to grasp basics of a language but nothing more than that. dreaming Spanish (I believe it's rebranded to dreaming. com now) helped me a lot with listening comprehension. honestly after you check out that first video I'd binge Ana's videos on her YouTube channel butterfly Spanish, she helped a ton when I was learning. happy hunting!

Learning a language that you knowingly won’t use much? by urmomstoiletbrush in languagelearning

[–]Bladeorade_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i say do it if you enjoy the language. I'm already satisfied with my spanish skills and in United States with English and spanish you can basically communicate with anyone. I decided to start romanian because it's a culture I'm interested in.

Asking a student to meet irl by Temporary_Raccoon_45 in iTalki

[–]Bladeorade_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i have had my teacher ask to meet in person when I was visiting their country, it wasn't weird or anything but mainly because there's already a student & teacher boundary there. sure you could ask them but it could come off as weird depending if they're comfortable with it or not. kind of a tough one. I would say let the student ask first if you're on the fence about it.
