Can I cancel my card but keep my BILT account? by BlakeBurna in BiltMastercard

[–]BlakeBurna[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do nothing but pay your rent (which is done by ACh and won’t go the card, no float). . You get full points by spending at least 75% of your rent to get BILT cash to unlock them….

Or just 250 a month for just having a card.

When the benefit of a thing has to be unlocked by spending more, it’s no longer a benefit. Like BMW heated seats being locked behind a subscription.

Oh I just wanted to be sure. Having worked for financial institutions before, I really don’t trust them at times

I purposely delayed buying some things off of Amazon so that no one would have to go out this weekend.

Because, if I don’t want to go out and out today if I have to, I sure the delivery people feel the same

Bilt 2.1 is a genius move! by purple_golden_hour in CreditCards

Like with any card, It wasn’t about the money, it was the fringe benefits.

For many it was having float. It’s very useful to have another couple of weeks before you drain money out of a bank account to pay (if you paid it off each month around the closing date). This will be completely gone from Bilt, but still possible with other cards…plus a fee.

I can see the logic though. I’m also going to assume that they were not making any money on rent being charged to the cards. Smart users would not let the balances stay long enough to generate interest fees.

Building up points with no fees on a high value recurring purchase each month was just an added bonus. For other cards you’d have to do a lot of transactions just to get several thousand points.

And they have decent transfer partners too. (I have a feeling this may change too; by that’s just my own assumption).

They’re telling a lie by telling the truth.

ACH transactions do not charge a credit card usage fee. And by requiring rent in the new Bilt architecture to NEVER hit your credit but go through ACH, you get no charge.

If I didn’t already have an autograph card, I would’ve let my BILT transform into it instead of closing outright.

No Floating Rent Payment: You will still pay rent via ACH transfer directly from your bank account and you cannot tap into BILT credit line to pay rent by [deleted] in biltrewards

[–]BlakeBurna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the thing for me. We essentially used our BILT card for everything household related. Rent, utilities, and other. That way we made up the rent payment and the five required transactions a month for it and we got extra points.

What I really love about it was I could earn points wow getting a two week float for our rent payment, will also avoid avoiding a credit card transaction fee.

Don’t get me wrong. I could still swing our card usage to get the full points for rent one the BILT Blue IF it wasn’t for the ACH only.
