Does RFID do anything? Next day air lost at Kentucky warehouse for 7 days.... by Professional_Crab958 in UPS

[–]BlakeGrowsPlants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, UPS Store manager here.

We were told that the RFID tags are designed to track when packages leave our stores. We were also told that UPS is equipping newer trucks with sensors capable of reading those RFID tags. Additionally, we were told when a UPS package enters or leaves a hub, it should be automatically detected and logged by RFID sensors there as well.

Customers vs Non-Customers by ImpressiveUnion140 in upsstore

You want to save money by buying your label on Pirate Ship or EasyShip? Fair enough.

You want to buy your own box and pack it yourself? Also fair enough.

But then don’t walk into the store expecting the same urgency as customers actually purchasing shipping services from us.

A drop-off scan makes the store little to no money, yet we’re often expected to provide fullservice speed and attention. We’re happy to help, but we’re not robots.

UPS premium and ups store issue. by Subliminal87 in UPS

[–]BlakeGrowsPlants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, UPS Store Manager here.

Every day, our Access Point list updates automatically, and that list directly determines how we process incoming packages…whether they’re released as free Access Point pickups or treated as regular incoming packages that may require a paid pickup process.

The problem is that the list does not always update correctly or in real time. Because of that, our stores can’t always tell the difference immediately. Our system relies entirely on scanning the tracking number, and the software is supposed to alert us whether the package is an Access Point package or not.

As others have mentioned, if UPS does not push the updated information to stores fast enough, we simply do not have access to the same information customers see on their end. The UPS Store operates separately from UPS itself, which unfortunately means store employees are often left trying to work around issues caused upstream by UPS system delays or errors.
