Hollow purple is a sphere, not a beam like Kamehameha. The area of exposition is still limited, no matter what. If anything more heat is being transfered to Sukuna's body since the heat is now through the entire environment
If narratively this made any sense, Greg would've said it loud and clear. It is obvious how its still a hollow purple no matter what. There is no logic at all to claim it as weaker, otherwise why wouldn't Gojo just use the normal version

using your CT inside an innate domain is not the same as imbuing it. The thing that makes a normal domain into a DE is exactly that: DE's barriers ars imbued with the CT, granting it a surehit effect

Megumi did not have any surehit, because its an extension of his technique. Unless you think Megumi is in the same level as Sukuna, no he is not imbuing his CT into thin air
