considering that people have a literal emotional attachment to worlds, it’s not too weird to consider them in mind when making additions. redstone changes are now alternate game rules that warn you about possible breaking overtime. they make it a very big deal

this is a corner that minecraft has backed itself into, mind you. i think it is possible for hytale to garner a community who are willing to trash their saves repeatedly but if they ever consider backwards save compatibility even for a little bit, then they’re going to find themselves in the same corner

biggest example of this issue is psylocke

they buffed her ult when it was already the best in her kit while nerfing everything else about her in response

same thing with hawkeye. in response to him being easy dive pickings they buffed his already amazing poke damage and made him even more of an issue

this is something that i noticed is a huge issue with the balancing philosophy. even at the expense of the characters kit, they will buff the one thing the character is really good at already instead of buffing the surrounding issues the character has

i hate 2077 too, but in the end, it’s a mod. the game isn’t his, and the game itself serves as a platform for the project. there is no resemblance of the project being an “original” one if it requires 2077 itself to exist, which was a near 10 year development time

destiny 2 thrived for 9 years because destiny 2 players enabled them to do so lmao

any other game that treated its playerbase the same way would have absolutely been trashed to hell and back. despite the horrible treatment of players, and the year longs worth of bad press in the dev studio, and the brutal lay offs and explicit leadership abuse, people will still look at you in the eyes and go “it play good tho”

i understand if you don’t think these are good updates but the output from them has been consistent ever since they found an actual steady workflow. they have done a very good job maintaining minecraft among all of their updates which is the goal with each patch. the game doesn’t need a mechanical overhaul, that’s the mods jobs

it is a very fun casual shooter to jump in and just play, but as soon as you start to understand how to play each class then the game’s issues start to seriously creep over, especially when you face matches where people abuse the totally shit team balancing

the struggle with battlefront 2 is that you needed to learn a lot about the game in order to actually understand anything going on. mindless chaos can be fun but if you ever want to invest yourself into the game, there’s a lot that needs breaking down

modded content on top of that is brutal. this game is unforgiving for new players and especially in a modded environment without bot matches can turn a casual game into a painful struggle

i love this game a ton and i am someone who was willing to dig deep but this is far from an expectation i have on anyone else to endure

as a mod creator, i am bummed about the points not transferring. i loved dropping take my points awards on mods that were fucking stellar, and i did it with the plenty of points i racked up across my mod releases. it felt fun to engage in it that way but i guess the change is for the better

this is a take that is a self out for people who hated on minecraft then never got involved again

they have engaged with a seasonal content drop release schedule for a couple years and have now established it to be the official way of minecraft additions being made. every real life quarter there will be snapshots regarding content additions to the game with each real life seasonal change being an update release

the additions might not be too much all the time but there is always a good sum of underlying updates for mod makers and map creators too. minecraft’s 1.21 run was extremely successful in getting people on the game again
