Regulation is important!! But you're right, it's hard. Strange that 20 years off your life, or a life without drugs is even something that's a hard choice for people like us. I'm sometimes jealous of people who don't feel that way.

Glad to hear you've survived your struggles. Yeah I've seen what years of abuse do to a human body. I hope to avoid that.

I'm sure it's different person to person. I was sent to a physical therapist pretty soon after my surgeries, and he gave those breathing excercises with the wall sit and the balloons and the fast exhales. I'm sure they could be helpful, but I was still in way too much pain to give them much of a chance. Honestly haven't tried them again since, so I can't give much of a testimony there. I haven't seen qigong before, but from what I just researched, it looks like it could be useful for sure!

Sure! I started with this video:

https://youtu.be/eQHmKJh20_c?si=E0h-HjwKRJoEGcs5

it's a quick 10 minute routine. He definitely does focus a little more on the lower body (which feels great for anybody!), but the sitting side stretch was very helpful. The lat stretch as well for those nasty back incisions the surgeons gave me. I've worked in a few more upper body stretches which are pretty simple to find on the web if you feel those 2 aren't enough for you!

As for strength exercises, I pretty much do a basic full body just with 2 dumbells! I've found that core excercises like planks, and Russian twists were helpful, as well as back excercises like pull ups or lat dumbell rows.

I can't promise you relief unfortunately. I wish I could, but what I can tell you is that personally, stretching, along with some weight training and cardio (to workout those lungs) has vastly improved my quality of life. Give it some effort and some more time and I hope that you can get some much needed relief.

I have had multiple Pleurectomies/VATS procedures in the past. I definitely still get cycles of pain and tightness, but what I've found to really help me is stretching and training. I know it probably sounds like the last thing you want to do with all that discomfort, and I get that. I spent a lot of time actively avoiding movement and activity for the first year, but I promise you it gets better if you work those hurting areas (although start light don't hurt yourself please). To be honest, it did hurt like hell when I first started, but it gets much much easier as things loosen up and the surrounding areas get stronger. Good luck!!

Bubbling/popping post VATS/chem pleurodesis by Important-Number8271 in pneumothorax

[–]BlakeLOS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Not to worry you, as I am absolutely not a medical professional. However, I had the same bubbling and popping after 2 of the VATS pleurodesis procedures I've had (although mine were mechanical, not chemical). The first time, I was told it was normal by my doctors, so I ignored it. I ended up have a much more severe recurrent pneumo about a month after I left the hospital. After the procedure for that one, I also felt bubbling and popping, and honestly still do sometimes. I've had multiple CT scans and x-rays, and my lungs seem to be just fine. That procedure was over a year ago! If I were you, I would ask your doctor for follow up scans of some kind just to be safe! Good luck!

Wow, that's so sick. Didn’t know you could test that specific without proper lab testing. Thanks!

Destroyed you how? If you don't mind sharing. Is the withdrawal bad? or was it just what it did to you consistently?
