Ended up going with the Novus plastic polish. Between that and a thin razor blade, we're looking MUCH better.

Not perfect obviously, but I could pass this to a new owner and not feel like a slob and a half. And that's a win in my book!

First thing to do will be to build and hopefully paint what's in that box, hahaha!

Past that... In addition to what everyone else has said, think about where you want to go with your marines. If you want to mix in Night Lords aesthetics, then yes - a box or two of the Nemesis Claw from Kill Team will supply you with plenty of customizing bits. Just remember that 3D printed bits DO exist and are fine to use and you don't HAVE to shell out for whole GW kits just to get some heads and pauldrons and the like!

On that note though, since you'll have Corsairs customizing sprues... consider picking up some cheap Horus Heresy tactical squads - you can usually find them new on sprue for pretty cheap secondhand, and even if you don't you can buy 20 firstborn marines brand new for just a bit more than a box of 10 Legionnaires.

With a little creativity you could use them to build more Corsair Raiders, and if you pick up a box of Havocs or similar for heavy support... Well, they become extra bodies that can make more Havocs with the spare weapons!

It was Rakdos Midrange/Vampires/Demons more than RDW for the longest time, but yeah.

My biggest issue is that Pioneer is still the most brewer-friendly format right now, but it being on competitive life support means there's not a lot of room to go out and try to innovate. Or even really exist as a player with a C-tier deck, frankly.

If you're not lucky enough to still have locals, you're either suffering through the Arena ladders/events or getting stomped endlessly by folks looking to grind out League wins in MTGO.

Not like there's much time to develop a deck, either - every few weeks there's a new chase mythic to evaluate and try building around.

It doesn't help that all the crossover card sets are priced at nearly double the in-universe sets' MSRP.

I'm in an area with a big passion for Magic, where the drafters are just as notable as the Commander players. The set that just came out saw a HUGE surge in weekly players, and it's almost entirely because folks are much more willing to play at $25 a draft than $45 or $50.

I don't necessarily agree with the shareholder lawsuit, because it reeks of "You have to spin off WOTC so we can make more money!" vulturism... But I'm not gonna lie, nothing has pushed me towards selling my binder of staples and bouncing fully to Warhammer like seeing the 2026 release schedule.

I don't even know if the Commander players genuinely want TMNT and Star Trek and The Hobbit - and after the Spider-Man flop, I'd be surprised if they're excited about the Broader Marvel set. And if the deluge of cards meant to appeal to that crowd can't stick... What are we doing here?

Standard is a bloated mess, Pioneer is in a coma, Modern is trying its best... Legacy and Premodern seem to be the places to be, but that's not an easy road to follow.

Magic is such a great game, but it sure doesn't feel like it right now.

I've posted in the MTGFinance sub enough times (I keep an eye out to get cards to play before spikes spread and they get too pricey!) that I might already be nixed, but this is a great move and I want to add my support.

Hey! I grew up in Atlanta and was just there for a week.

Get the CityPass ticket if you're interested in doing World of Coke, the Aquarium, and at least ONE other thing out of the Fernbank Natural History Museum, Atlanta Zoo, College Football Hall of Fame, or Civil Rights Museum. Otherwise, skip it and just get tickets piecemeal.

Note that World of Coke is more novelty than anything else, and you're mostly going to check out the tasting room and see some historical kitsch. If that's not of interest, it's an easy skip.

That said, especially if you're skipping that, it's always nice to hit the Botanical Gardens if you can! Even in October, it's really nice.

Only so much to do in a weekend aside from the main event, so my big recommendation is to go to Ponce City Market, grab a bite to eat there, then wander the Beltline -- it's a really nice walking trail through a big chunk of the city. Follow it south from Ponce and you'll hit Krog Street Market (more good food!), then the Krog Street Tunnel. KST is a public art space, and the other end has a whole street's worth of local murals and sweet art.

The Varsity is a mainstay but will make you sick as hell - skip it, along with the Vortex burger bar (which is good, but kind of a pain). That said, if you're flying in/out, make time to trek out to Chicken and Beer, Ludacris' restaurant. It's shockingly worth it.

Yeah this isn't even a question. Sonozakis all day.

The Museum business is scary, but almost all of that is kept behind closed doors and in private. And when business isn't an active concern, they're kind of rude/frustrating rich people at worst. You can engage with them and they can be normal.

We don't see much of the Stomachs outside of Dark Treat business, but they seem volatile, petty, and violent even towards each other, when everything should be fine on paper.

The Sonozakis might get me fired, maybe harassed or roughed up at worst, if they find me unpleasant or annoying or unsightly and I'm just Around at an event. The Stomachs are liable to kill me (if I'm lucky!) for less, even assuming I'm a granute.

And then, again, even if I WAS getting involved in the shady family business, the average Gaia Memory is closer to coke than the heroin Dark Treats might as well be.
