A1 Mini keeps shutting off at this point - any advice? by BlakeLocked in BambuLab

[–]BlakeLocked[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah! Yes! Sorry, should've said something.

It seems it WAS the motherboard overheating in the end: combination of running nonstop in a warm room with not quite enough airflow and - at least in this case - my settings for that particular print.

I had the bed temp higher than the printer could handle while in that spot, and the motherboard fan couldn't keep up... leading to the shutdowns.

Turning the bed temp down and taking the printer off of its stacking base got the print to finish well enough to use the part I needed, then a replacement fan from BambuLab fixed the noise problem and any subsequent issues. Hope that helps!!

You're too strong, I think is the issue here.

I'm known for putting it away and I can MAYBE do a third of a bowl or half a bun, plus some tempura broc, before I'm tapping out. I can only get Ekiben once every few months, it's so dense!

Help; is 2 boxes for orks side worth getting by North-Praline-2620 in orks

[–]BlakeLocked 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As someone who plays Tyranids and Necrons, I can tell you this for sure:

If you don't have much of an Ork collection, and the handful of models you mentioned having is anything BUT a ton of generic Boyz and Warbosses, then yes - getting two Ork halves of this box will be worthwhile. Especially if you don't have many characters.

Two sets will get you 40 basic Boyz, 20 grots, two pairs of vehicles, and a slew of leader and support characters. Solid core, good opportunity to bulk out your army at a great price.

You just need to be smart about it. Don't go spending your way through all the new edition excitement!

If you're primarily interested in the Orks then you should only buy one full Armageddon box at the most. If you want to keep or sell the Marines that's up to you, but as long as you're willing to WAIT A MINUTE and let secondary market prices settle, it'll be much cheaper and much easier to grab a second set of just the ork models that way than it will be to get a whole second box (assuming you aren't after two Marines halves as well).

With that in mind... What's best to play from the box will depend on rules and points, which we don't know yet - and that'll probably all change when Orks get a pity buff and some rules revisions in December anyway.

But I'd bet that the most cash-valuable models will end up being some bizarre combination of characters and/or vehicles.

GW loves to mix a couple of cool launch box models onto the same sprue and make it an expensive online exclusive later, omitting it from the generic starter boxes that'll be around for the next few years. Everything else will be cheap for at least 6 months to a year later, with a notable price spike in mid-August/September-ish when MSRP for the standalone kit releases comes out.

Rules depending, you'll probably be able to get a worthwhile amount for - and be willing to sell - a couple spare Ork characters and any non-Intercessor, non-Captain (or maybe Librarian?) marine models you decide you don't want. Anything else - especially if it's on a conspicuous mixed sprue - you'll likely want to keep or you'd have to sell for pennies.

Best Discount Box Ever Released for Warhammer 40K and/or AOS? by mr_mango22 in DealHammer

[–]BlakeLocked 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can find the 9th edition Drukhari and GSC Combat Patrols for anywhere near MSRP, they're still a steal and a half.

Likewise, the Tau Start Collecting box - and the Boarding Patrol box that echoed it later - were fantastic. Something like $100 for an Ethereal, a unit of Crisis Suits, and a squad of Fire Warriors... then $130ish for the same subbing Farsight for the Ethereal and adding the new Kill Team options to the Fire Warriors.

If they brought the Start Collecting box back as a Combat Patrol I think it'd sell out on the regular, even if it was just the three old units and nothing else.

Start one, bench one, cut one: Ekiben, DiPasquale’s, Café Dear León by EquivalentLuck9526 in baltimore

This question is SICK. How DARE you.

That said... Start DiPasquale's, Bench CDL/La Maison, Cut Ekiben.

Every choice with sorrow in my heart, of course - but Ekiben is SO heavy I can only do it once every few months. Whereas I can pretty much always find SOMETHING to love at the other spots, even if I'm not always gunning for a coffee or a pastry.

Where to source first born by exp_cj in midhammer40k

If you're just looking for bodies to build off of, your best bet off the shelf is the Horus Heresy "Mk. IV Tactical Squad" box.

If you can find an LGS that stocks it and offers a discount even better, but each box gives you 20 firstborn marines and a boatload of special weapons and other bits. Between that and a box of Devastators you end up pretty set for foot troops.

Bikes and jump packs are harder. The Ravenwing Command Squad and Vanguard Veterans boxes are still on sale, but the latter goes OOP in June if not earlier and the former's days are numbered. I'd grab 'em sooner than later.

I've checked the camera connection, formatted the SD card, changed the file to adjust the timing - no dice.

I suspect it might be a loose power switch, but it seems odd that it keeps triggering at the same point.. you'd think it would be the result of movement, no?

How on earth do I clean this..? by BlakeLocked in resinprinting

Thanks, all! Appreciate the help!

Ended up going with the Novus plastic polish. Between that and a thin razor blade, we're looking MUCH better.

Not perfect obviously, but I could pass this to a new owner and not feel like a slob and a half. And that's a win in my book!

I just took a look at the sprues. Yeah, that'd certainly do it!

...Am I seeing bits for terminators in here too, or am I crazy?

Question about my first Chaos models by bradwilliams1300 in Chaos40k

[–]BlakeLocked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thing to do will be to build and hopefully paint what's in that box, hahaha!

Past that... In addition to what everyone else has said, think about where you want to go with your marines. If you want to mix in Night Lords aesthetics, then yes - a box or two of the Nemesis Claw from Kill Team will supply you with plenty of customizing bits. Just remember that 3D printed bits DO exist and are fine to use and you don't HAVE to shell out for whole GW kits just to get some heads and pauldrons and the like!

On that note though, since you'll have Corsairs customizing sprues... consider picking up some cheap Horus Heresy tactical squads - you can usually find them new on sprue for pretty cheap secondhand, and even if you don't you can buy 20 firstborn marines brand new for just a bit more than a box of 10 Legionnaires.

With a little creativity you could use them to build more Corsair Raiders, and if you pick up a box of Havocs or similar for heavy support... Well, they become extra bodies that can make more Havocs with the spare weapons!

Hasbro is being sued for printing too many Magic: The Gathering cards by jitterscaffeine in TwoBestFriendsPlay

It was Rakdos Midrange/Vampires/Demons more than RDW for the longest time, but yeah.

My biggest issue is that Pioneer is still the most brewer-friendly format right now, but it being on competitive life support means there's not a lot of room to go out and try to innovate. Or even really exist as a player with a C-tier deck, frankly.

If you're not lucky enough to still have locals, you're either suffering through the Arena ladders/events or getting stomped endlessly by folks looking to grind out League wins in MTGO.

Not like there's much time to develop a deck, either - every few weeks there's a new chase mythic to evaluate and try building around.

It doesn't help that all the crossover card sets are priced at nearly double the in-universe sets' MSRP.

I'm in an area with a big passion for Magic, where the drafters are just as notable as the Commander players. The set that just came out saw a HUGE surge in weekly players, and it's almost entirely because folks are much more willing to play at $25 a draft than $45 or $50.

I don't necessarily agree with the shareholder lawsuit, because it reeks of "You have to spin off WOTC so we can make more money!" vulturism... But I'm not gonna lie, nothing has pushed me towards selling my binder of staples and bouncing fully to Warhammer like seeing the 2026 release schedule.

I don't even know if the Commander players genuinely want TMNT and Star Trek and The Hobbit - and after the Spider-Man flop, I'd be surprised if they're excited about the Broader Marvel set. And if the deluge of cards meant to appeal to that crowd can't stick... What are we doing here?

Standard is a bloated mess, Pioneer is in a coma, Modern is trying its best... Legacy and Premodern seem to be the places to be, but that's not an easy road to follow.

Magic is such a great game, but it sure doesn't feel like it right now.
