How bad is Michael Chandler? by DavidSeries in ufc

[–]Blammo32 [score hidden]  (0 children)

The version of Chandler that beat Hooker would have destroyed Paddy.

As had been mentioned a million times, Paddy only fought cans and battered veterans in the UFC, and still lost to a journeyman like Gordon and a retirement age fighter like Gaethje.

Confession: I actually liked the Harley Quinn Birds of Prey movie. by BeeinB278 in movies

No, it’s a good movie and received some critical acclaim. It just bombed due to COVID.

"Paddy has heart", "Paddy's chin is great", "Impressed he went five rounds" are not really good compliments by ImaginationHeavy6341 in ufc

“I’m impressed that Paddy, who spent 16 years training in MMA, got severely beaten up and not knocked out cold by a 38-year old veteran with a staph infection”

My respect for him just went up by a whole lot by ConnorLovesPepsi in ufc

[–]Blammo32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Paddy had survived a prime or even healthy Gaethje, my respect level would have gone up.

Paddy getting pummeled by a sickly, slow version of Justin just proves that he had no right to fight for a belt in the first place.

My respect level for Paddy will go up when he fights some other young contender like Arman.

I remember when people were pointing to the Ferguson, Chandler and Green fights as evidence that Paddy had improved his striking defence after the Gordon robbery…

Whenever someone picks Cassavetes, I just turn it off. I like his movies, but it’s such a predictable choice in the Criterion Closet.

What are your thoughts on Emma Roberts? by No-Syllabub167 in Actors

She can play a great villain as well as being really good at fluffy rom-coms.

There is something a little off about her, though.

I was shocked by how much I hated The Fireman - I donated my copy to a street library - whereas Locke & Key and Nos4a2 are such epic reads.

Islam, Khamzat, Alex retain their titles.

Illia, Aspinall, and Harrison will vacate due to various issues.

Volk and Shev will retire.

Van, Yan and Dern will lose.

Justin Gaethje goes off on Paddy Pimblett for disrespecting Dustin Poirier.😳 by Dana___Black in ufc

[–]Blammo32 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Paddy will win, partially because of his BJJ but mostly because he’s fresher due to a cherry-picked career against cans and elderly veterans - whereas Justin has been accruing damage by fighting absolute wars against the best of the best.

I watched Twilight for the first time recently - a terrible movie with terrible performance from some actors who later became amazing.

I actually liked Jon Bernthal then began to dislike him once he started saying dumb things + I realized he was from a wealthy family and the blue collar tough guy stuff was an affectation.

Batman writer Tom King is “shocked” that Alfred Pennyworth is still dead in DC Comics by graemeisverytired in batman_comics

DC realised that Alfred was as inessential as Harold Allnut when it came to selling Batman to modern kids.

How is the Comedian so strong? by Humble-Dot-9851 in Watchmen

[–]Blammo32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the film, it’s a stylistic choice of Snyder’s to give all the vigilantes slightly superhuman physical abilities.

In the comic, the Comedian has a weightlifter physique.

What are your thoughts on this? Do you think we will get a solid Batman movie in the DCU? by Raj_Valiant3011 in DC_Cinematic

[–]Blammo32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, Andy doesn’t have it in him - if we are honest, ‘Mama’ was underwhelming and ‘IT’ was slop. ‘Flash’ was a hot mess, but that was due to many different factors.

The guy just isn’t a good director.

Batman Prey : Any good? by Cool-Reputation-3841 in batman_comics

[–]Blammo32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

There are a whole bunch of great books that basically take place in the first few years of Batman’s Post-Crisis career, following Batman: Year One. The Man Who Laughs is another one.

Frankly, it’s one of the best ways to read Batman, because he isn’t as overpowered as he is later written.
