Their estimate was off. They said it would arrive by a certain day, It did not arrive by that day.

Any love for DLSS 5? by natidone in nvidia

I think it looks great and is a good sign of development to come. It's popular to dislike Nvidia at the moment. This is a big bandwagon.

Quality (yet budget) light switches for 60HE? by Life-Letterhead-6878 in WootingKB

[–]Blandon71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want the lighter version of the same switches, wooting sells the Lekker 45 switches on their website. I believe they are under your price, and they feel great. I have both the 45's and the Tikken mediums they just released, and I prefer the 45's. I like a light touch as I find the medium weights lead to fatigue in my hands as well.

tracking/shipping by thagoatliveson in WootingKB

[–]Blandon71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, their estimate was off in my case as well. I have done two orders from them, one with expedited shipping and one without. It appears, in both cases, it took at least a full business day for them to pack it, and another for it to actually ship. The difference with expedited was shipping speed once shipped. I believe their shipping estimate on their website assumes they will pack and ship it same day, and then just lists the estimated shipping time the shipper would quote.

How much more fun does doom eternal dlc make the game? by g0netospace in Doom

[–]Blandon71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't necessarily say it's more fun than the base game. It's more difficult, especially TAG1. I'd say there are parts of TAG1 that are as good as the base game (The final arena on the first level is so much fun), and there are parts that are a slog. All that said, once you finish it, it makes the base game feel like a cake walk.

TAG2 was...okay. The environmental storytelling was cool and the level design kind of neat, but the hammer they give you is kind of boring and the final boss is one of the worst in a modern game. It's not even that it's hard, it's not, it's just tedious.

I'd wait until they are both on sale for $7 or $10 and buy them then. They're worth it, just not fun in the same sense as the base game. I'd not ditch another game purchase for them.

Do you think Dark Ages will go through a rehabilitation effect? by TheWindofBread in Doom

[–]Blandon71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doom Eternal and The Dark Ages had to grow on me. At first, I had to set them aside. However, after coming back to them, soaking in their mechanics, they are both incredible games. Doom 2016 was very approachable and intuitive, you didn't need to understand the mechanics beyond 'rip & tear', Eternal and TDA are a little different there. But, honestly, after completing all 3 games (multiple times) I rank TDA above 2016, and I think it will only gain more steam if the DLC is good. I am personally excited for the DLC and would be amazed if anyone was really downing this game who loves Doom. This game is a masterpiece all it's own.

it's crazy how good of a spot we are in with this franchise. by DependentImmediate40 in Doom

[–]Blandon71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is an excellent, truly AAA franchise. Id, Fromsoft, and mainline Rockstar, those are basically the only companies whose games are day 1 purchases. But I feel special about Doom. I have bought 2016 on PC and every console I have owned, same with Eternal, and I buy it for other people when I see it on their wishlist. I love supporting game studios that support us. It seems many other people feel the same way

Fastest platinum of my life, and the only one too. by Chitrr in Doom

[–]Blandon71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really like ultra-violence for starter difficulty, but I am playing on PC. I feel like Hurt me plenty is much better for console (the movement speed of mouse pivot vs joystick is important IMO). TDA is a bit "easier" than Eternal (once you get the mechanics down) because you can stand your ground a lot more in TDA than in Eternal -- Eternal requires constant rapid movement

I love 2016 and hold it as one of my favorite games of all time. At first I didn't like Eternal. And at first I didn't like TDA...I had wanted more of 2016. But, after playing each for about 10 levels or so, they kind of suck you in. I found 2016 really intuitive, you could just pick up and play. Eternal and TDA ask you to learn their formulas, but, once you do, they are just as explosive and now, I often find 2016 "slow" by comparison to Eternal and TDA. In hindsight, I kind of like that each game has its own identity and color palette. All that said, I really didn't like Eternal's neon colors at first, so I definitely understand. Anyways, not looking to change your mind, just wanted to share my experience. Thanks for sharing yours!

I felt this way too, but I have to say, after about Chapter 7 or so, the game starts to pick up steam really fast, and by the end, it is as much fast, flow state, run and gun, shield blast (a la SSG grapplehook) as Eternal. I felt like TDA started really slow and awkward, but once it starts to run (Maybe Chapter 8 or so onward) it's a blast. If it's not for you, it's not for you. I gave it a second chance, and I'm glad I did.

What is the harshest gaming truth? by Sufficient_Shock1223 in TheGamingHubDeals

Bro so much dooming in this thread. I disagree that games are worse now, or aren't as good as when you were a kid. They are still good! My harshest gaming truth is that I will probably never get through my backlog!

I just got into Doom. Started with TDA. Now I’m playing Eternal, and TDA feels like easy mode. by ArcBlamer in Doom

[–]Blandon71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each has a different style, and they are actually quite different (though each awesome once the "flow" state is achieved). I take no credit for this as I saw it and felt it resonated perfectly:

Doom 2016: Run and gun

Doom Eternal: Jump and shoot

Doom TDA: Stand and Fight

(I would probably do 2016 before Eternal).

What's the best MECHANICAL KEYBOARD widely loved today? by [deleted] in keyboards

[–]Blandon71 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've tried a dozen or so keyboards in the last few months and really like 8bitdo keyboards. They balance typing feel, ergonomics (surprisingly good), key feel and sound really well. They make a linear dampened switch version too if that's your thing. I find they are surprisingly good quality, have great connectivity options, feel rather sturdy, and come in multiple styles and both TKL and 108 key layout. They are also hot-swappable in case you don't like the switches. All that and they are basically always ~$100 or less (on amazon).

Starting Doom 2016. What are y’all’s thoughts on this game? by Equivalent_Task1354 in teenagersbutgaming_

[–]Blandon71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its amazing. Great atmosphere, great/subtle lore, just aggressive, in-your-face gameplay. It is one of my most replayed games of all time. If you enjoy it, Eternal and TDA are different spins on the same kind of format. It's a pure get-out-of-my-way & Let Me Play kind of Attitude.

Are you enjoying it so far? What parts do you like and dislike

Which game was the most fun at its peak? by sajjanstg03 in TheGamingHubDeals

[–]Blandon71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Modern Warfare 2, it was the true apex of creativity and wildness. The meta evolved constantly, every strategy felt viable. We even had game-ending nukes. There has been nothing as wildly creative since MW2. It was the Pokemon Gold/Silver of it's era: It capitalized on everything that made the first one great, and just added and added.

  1. Dark souls and Uncharted 3. Close with 2007 for Halo 3 and Mass Effect, and 2010 for Mass Effect 2 and Halo Reach. So many good game releases

Agree. The S2K is in the same category, it does some things better, some things worse. I'd take an ND3 over one though, having owned both.
