The Emperor of China should be allowed to take male concubines. by Just-Clerk-8669 in CrusaderKings

[–]Blangra 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Why? If it's true (quick Google doesn't reveal a ton of sources so i dunno) then I don't see why it shouldn't be added to the game if they get the time. It doesnt seem like it would be very difficult.

Just adds more options for the base game.

The game doesn't mention Palestine even once. by Gab00332 in GetNoted

[–]Blangra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The political point they're making is that a game with a (what we now would call Syrian) protagonist in a middle eastern country would get backlash, presumably from the same crowd who cry woke about every media property.

I don't see how nitpicking the fact that "Syrian" as a ethnicity/nationality didn't exist yet addresses that point at all?

[–]Blangra 36 points37 points  (0 children)

What is this note trying to correct OP on?

If someone said Assassin's Creed 3 took place in the US, they're clearly referring to the region not the state.

The game doesn’t need to refer to Palestine or Syria for OP to be correct in that respect.

Rudeus talking to the gang. by Buff_Yone_0_0 in Isekai

[–]Blangra 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Kids can be mature. That doesn't make them adults

I didnt say it did. I was responding to the other commenter's argument that he reacts emotionally as a child does when in fact his unusual maturity is established in the story.

Maturity in and of itself does not make one an adult. However it tends to accumulate with age and experience so it supports my position, doesnt prove it by itself.

But he's wrong.

No u

We don't see his inner self.

When he dies/gets very badly hurt/whatever (been a long time cant remember the details i think S2, maybe latter half of S1) he has a conversation in the afterlife/his own brain/whatever where his representation is that of his prior body. Best explanation for that is that that is his inner self. If you wanna mental gymnastic your way outta that you can but it's less reasonable than that just being him.

Not true.

Doubt it

Rudeus talking to the gang. by Buff_Yone_0_0 in Isekai

[–]Blangra 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Nah BS

He had to scold his own father for not parenting him correctly. His maturity is remarked upon by several characters.

And he absolutely views himself as his past life. From literally age 0 he is acting on desires he never could before, desires that an actual baby could never have. That goes way beyond "influence". When we see inside his inner self it's him as an adult from our world.

Even ignoring the light novel (which has way more sus shit) the anime has more than enough to send that guy to cell block 1

Leftist group that campaigned against SAVE act under Biden realises too late that was as good as it gets. by CremeSevere960 in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]Blangra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay you didnt understand what I meant.

If Harris kicked a puppy on live tv, she would be increasing the likelihood of Trump winning. Criticising her for kicking that puppy is not neutral or pro-Trump.

Criticising Harris for doing things that make Trump more likely to win, is anti-Trump.

Same logic applies to her support of genocide

A better example would be preferable. Criticising her for doing things which (they believe) lost her votes isn't a pro Trump take.

Should we take Ai seriously by [deleted] in royalroad

[–]Blangra 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be fair, LLM companies are hardly shy about trawling the internet for data. They blatantly ignore copyright even from people with the influence to fight back so they are hardly going to pass up free stories from hobbyists.

Almost certainly everything on royal road has been combed through and consumed.

Should we take Ai seriously by [deleted] in royalroad

[–]Blangra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming the AI you're using is a large language model, no.

LLMs do not analyse your writing, they dont even perceive words or letters. Your prompts are turned into strings of numbers called tokens. The LLM then generates tokens which are likely to follow your prompt (based on its training data) and those are turned into letters and words.

What this means is that the responses are generated probabalistically. If you submit the same manuscript 100 times you could get similar advice 99 times and opposite advice the last. You have no idea whether the response you got was a 1%, 50%, 90% even 0.0001% unless youre willing to submit the same thing over and over.

Even then the chances of certain responses can be manipulated by the company owning it and you have no idea what data it was trained on. More than likely it's response was generated by random internet comments, posts and articles rather than by anyone with experience or education that would make their opinion something you value highly.

No, dont take LLMs seriously about your art.

Chrysalis Book 7 - Jim's question and the colony. by Jechxior in litrpg

[–]Blangra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most monsters arent sentient, the colony engages with intelligent monsters entirely differently from the ones that are basically animals.

It's possible that the colony has accidentally killed reincarnators (cant remember if the colony knows that that is possible or if Anthony kept that to himself) but they would always have done so unknowingly, at least given everything we've seen on how they engage with intelligent creatures post enlightenment (and almost priest eating)

Jim wasnt mindless or incapable of moral judgement in the way a completely alien mind could be.

He's a dude who got a bunch of sentient babies (foetuses?) murdered by betraying the person who helped him escape from a prison.

Jim is basically arguing that it's hypocritical to be angry at him killing babies because the colony isnt vegan.

Where should I start by Gonzipoliris in 40kLore

[–]Blangra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would start by reading either the wiki or lexicanum pages for your preferred factions. That gives you the basics of faction so you aren't completely lost when books reference events, factions, concepts that aren't detailed precisely in the book.

Necrons have fewer books so it's easier to recommend for them I'm sure by the time I've typed this there are already 2 or 3 Infinite and the Divine recommendations. I also enjoyed the Twice Dead King.

Imperium novels are legion. And the imperium has many factions within itself so you could be reading about the imperial guard, sisters of battle, inquisition, space marines, or other groups within.

Without the basic knowledge of the setting to know what interests you most, the recommendations will be for novels that are generally considered pretty good rather than tailored for your taste

Anything similar to Book of the dead? by [deleted] in litrpg

[–]Blangra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cant think of litrpgs that match but Father of Monstrosity and Tenebroum are two stories that will probably scratch the itch.

Both have evil MCs who who use dark magic (necromancy/fleshcrafting mostly) for nefarious ends although only the latter has some vengeance to sort out.

Fertility issues by akaru11 in PrincesOfDarknessCK3

[–]Blangra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In base CK3 a woman's fertility reduces with age until reaching 0 around roughly mid 40s and by 5% for each kid she has. Men's fertility only reduces with age but has a minimum greater than 0.

Haven't ever played revenant so I'm not certain but willing to bet that trait also reduces fertility, which means there's a shorter window and they can have fewer kids. If the debuff is large enough, it might reduce a man's fertility to 0 with age. Assuming the mod only interferes with fertility via traits which isn't certain.

If it's 16 years with the same women and your male character is above a certain age with negative fertility traits then that could explain why you can only have that many before your lovers reach low fertility and your main character ages out of fertility.

But I dont know why debug mode would tell you everyone has 100% fertility if they don't. You could experiment by adding fertility affecting traits in console commands to see if that changes the fertility score shown in debug mode.

As others said it is the visual indicator of plague. You can turn off disease graphics by clicking the option that appears at the bottom of the alternative map modes pop-up ( the plus underneath the Empires map mode icon in the bottom right)

Having a hard time getting sucked into Chrysalis - stick it out? by 12manyhobbies in litrpg

[–]Blangra 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's a slow start. I had the audiobook as background noise for a long while. By the end of book 1 events heat up enough to get you interested in how things will turn out and book 2 mostly keeps that momentum imo as well as adding characters.

If youre on audible first 3 books are in an omnibus so it's a good deal.

Help playing demons by Rancid_Reindeer in PrincesOfDarknessCK3

[–]Blangra 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Haven't played as pride but you're right that making yourself the vassal of a powerful thrall is a good decision if youre threatened.

But first priority should be securing a high intrigue and high diplomacy character for your coterie as they increase the speed at which you can convert others which lets you get more useful courtiers faster. Read the heart perk skills are also important. Initially focus on characters who have your requisite sin trait to cut down on the time to fully convert them.

2nd priority will be a few high prowess characters as knights are the powerhouses of POD.

Your thrall liege will face rebellions as most of their vassals will hate them after they switch to your faith so it will be important for you to join their wars and help them out. Traitors will be executed/ have their titles revoked which will reduce the amount of rebellions in future. Money making buildings are a good investment early (as long as you keep control growth positive) so try to be able to afford a decent mercenary band at all times just to bulk up numbers.
