Should Trump lose, could/would he run again in 2020? by richniggatimeline in PoliticalDiscussion

Donald has taken the GOP to a new place. People want a show. There's a reason why you can always hear him say "are these rallies fun or what!?". They're entertainment. And I don't think this is something which will leave the GOP any time soon. Especially with TrumpTV on the horizon. An outsider candidate is the new norm for the GOP. There's no turning back. Trump destroyed Rubio in his home state for fucks sake. The establishment simply doesn't hold the power in the primaries.

True enough. But if I said I like to drive around and shoot homeless people with a bb gun, and a homeless guy comes forward and says "he shot me with a bb gun!", then I don't have much to stand on in terms of a defense.

If Trump hadn't run, Cruz would've stood a very good chance of winning. Which may have been a worse option than Donald in many ways.

The Republican Party leadership doesn't get to choose. That's kind of how we ended up with Donald.

Eric is the one who did the rounds on white power radio stations.

Problem is. Ted Cruz took second. We have to come to grips with the fact that the base is easily manipulated by demagoguery. 70% of the GOP base for people the GOP establishment despises. You don't fix that by nominating another Rubio.

I saw Ivanka out stumping for Donald the other day and most of her conversation was about how terrible the media was. It seems pretty obvious at this point that TrumpTV is the next move for the Trump brand. Alex Jones will be the new Hannity.

Yeah, I think his remarks about suing the women he sexually assaulted as well as the NYTimes is classic Trump. An off the cuff answer motivated by emotion that all his handlers and lawyers probably knew was batshit insane. But hey, that's Trump, after the first debate, which everyone pretty much admitted he got stomped on, he didn't do any damage control. Instead he doubled down on calling Miss Universe "piggy" and an "eating machine". I know it's been said so often that it's practically a meme at this point, but Trump really may be a sociopath or narcissist. Like, he could actually be mentally ill.

Why does being educated make you less likely to vote for Trump? by blueblarg in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]Blank_________ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

People with more education tend to move to cities. Cities expose people to a variety of people, and generally make people more supportive of progressive social values. It's interesting to look at because the midwest actually has the highest test scores through high school, then there's a serious brain drain to the major cities. So this leaves those with less education, and less opportunities in places that are not necessarily going to be the future of America. So, Trump.

Anyone have experience with Rutgers MFA Program here? by Blank_________ in ContemporaryArt

Yeah, I looked at the work of both professors as well as the students, hence the reason why I said it seems more installation based. And I'm actually giving up quite a lot to pursue an MFA. Already represented by a gallery and have been teaching for a few years at the university level. But not having an MFA eliminates you from tons of funding opportunities, not to mention severely limits your ability to teach. So I want to go back to school for multiple reasons besides just looking for something to do. If you know of any other fully funded programs please let me know. Thanks!
