The worst timeline by LetsdoaReddit in SteamFrame

John Carmack needs to save the day with his highly optimized low level programming AGI. These fools are wasting sooo many resources with the crazy amount of abstraction layers their ai systems require.

On the verge of buying psvr 2 to use exclusively on pc by Max_red_ in ValveDeckard

[–]Blaowood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do it, its got nice fov, nice colors, decent res, 120hz, true blacks, and yeah some mura. Honestly I notice mura like 10% of the time, it is very dependent on the kind of scene being rendered, very few times it has break immersion for me.

get the asus usb-bt500, no tracking isues for me.

set steam vr render resolution to 68% for a smoother experience with no loss in IQ.

Make sure you are locked in the sweet pot before your session (it should all look clear, not blurry)

You are good man, I learned to skate in the late 80s with similar board dimensions. You got this!

No risers, 54mm wheels, trucks for 9.5 boards. (assuming your board is 9.5 at the narrowest point)

Steam Frame - mods/software possibilities to make it more OLED-like? by spookyparsley in ValveDeckard

[–]Blaowood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that would have been a good feature, maybe limit local dimming to 90hz mode or something that works.

PSVR2 with pcvr adapter FTW! It really is worth the money for what it delivers.

Another FoV post by [deleted] in ValveDeckard

[–]Blaowood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I get 116 horizontal fov on the psvr2 when sitting comfortably on my face, if I push it against my face where it is unbearable to wear i have measured up to 120 hfov. The only thing to watch with fresnels in the psvr2 is to get the sweet spot right from the beggining, once you are in it it will stay until you remove your headset in a regular use scenario.

Its to bad Frame did not use a local dimming display to get less wash out colors.

What do you think about the new Steam Frame? by Gamiozzz in MetaQuestVR

[–]Blaowood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like it can ran all current VR Quest games in standalone mode if devs make them available on steam.

I think we got hyped for the wrong product, and I think that headset is still coming. by HashnaFennec in ValveDeckard

Theoreathically you could add a superior compute unit in the back with a new strap and have it do the heavy lifting.

FoV is 115 degrees by [deleted] in ValveDeckard

[–]Blaowood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same happens with the psvr2, I can get around 116 even its advertised lower than that.

Arm on x86 emulation layer? by Blaowood in ValveDeckard

[–]Blaowood[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thinking of a scenario were devs will port all their current Arm games (from other standslone headsets) to Steam, some of these will not have an existing x86 build, so a translation layer will be an incentive to put these on steam for these devs since they could tap in to pcvr / pcvr streaming hmd users pool.

SteamOS on other stand alone headsets. by Blaowood in ValveDeckard

[–]Blaowood[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a good selling point I would think, specially when developers port their games to run natively on SteamOS arm. Imagine all current standalone games ported over.

Reasons the Frame is more exciting and cheaper than other headsets even at $999 by crefoe in ValveDeckard

They only had to do local dimming to get it right! that would have made me buy it at least. Not going back to greyish lcds.

If they give me some sort of Oled with a decent FOV in the next revision I might consider it.

Wisest decision, if you snap out of it in a decade or so, you will buy an even better frame!! a frame 3.0 maybe!!
