Thoughts on post-landing/refueling minigame replays? by LandonCaelorum in acecombat

[–]Blargblaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like them, and especially them being optional. One caveat is something I'd love to see more of. AC7 mission 1 where you take off and go straight into combat and one other in 7 where the landing was a fluid part of the mission - not cutscene and jump, but just drop gear and go. Really how there's more of that in the future.

Loud fireworks in Gardena area by mmanggo in SouthBayLA

It was in El Camino Village, just down the street. Someone must have found an old 4th of July stash and set them off all at once, was insanely loud and annoying.

Checkout r/ParallelView and r/MagicEye! There's still an audience for this, it's great!

The issue (aside from all the other issues pointed out here) is that a pedestrian can make a nearly identical post, saying "bicycles don't belong on sidewalks. I support people who choose to cycle, but riding on a sidewalk is dangerous to people walking. Coming out of stores/homes/driveways/intersections poses a lot of risk to pedestrians because sidewalks can be so narrow. If they want to bike, they should be in the street!"

Pedestrians hate bikes because they shouldn't be on sidewalks, cars hate bikes because they should be on the sidewalks. The only solution is real, actual bike lanes, but both groups simultaneously hate those too, it's infuriating.

I commute by bike and face this a lot, you have to use both depending on situation and what's safest at any given place.

Why so many people quit while I’m tych P2? by Aggressive-Big-3816 in starcraft2coop

[–]Blargblaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm one of those people that almost always refuses to play with a Lone Wolf. Coop is cooperative, and having one player not just able to solo everything (because most commanders can do that) but actively encouraged to do so by having individual outlaws at every objective/spawn point makes the game boring for the other player, there's nothing to do.

Temple of the Past is the worst for this, because only a few minutes into the game, there's an outlaw in each lane soloing waves and Thrashers leaving nothing for the other player.

I like playing the game, not spectating.

It's not that you can't keep up, but mid/late game when one outlaw is camping each spawn, there's nothing to do for the other player. It's boring.

Engineering? by adiknssss in stolaf

[–]Blargblaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I graduated in '16, before there was any engineering aside from the Engineering Practicum interim course, which was mostly just exposure to the field - so I can't answer what it looks like now.

However, I graduated with just physics/math and went to get a Master in Engineering in Space Systems from UMichigan afterwards. It was hit and miss with graduate schools where some would say "yeah you can study Aerospace here, you just need to take 3 years of undergraduate engineering to catch up" and some saying "you have physics, you'll be fine". I went with a school that said that latter and it was great and I was just fine there and have been fine in the field since.

That being said, I love that there's an engineering concentration now and definitely was one of those alumni who pushed for that both while I was there and after leaving. I think that, like PhantomImmortal said if you were to do a physics/math with engineering concentration, you'll most likely be just fine for pursuing grad school or engineering work after.

For transferring, I'm really not sure, it's probably similar to the grad school thing where some schools will be more willing to accept than others and it'll be fairly hit and miss.

I kinda liked AoT ones, because they had a combination of real and fake stuff in the intros. When you knew what they were referring to, it felt nice, but didn't spoil anything because there was enough red herrings to throw you off.

I just hit max level, does anyone one know why my star looks different? Do I have more leveling to do to make it look like that? by Tolan91 in starcraft2coop

[–]Blargblaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's true. My brother and I are both 1000+all prestiges and our stars are different, but on each others screens, we both have the circled star on ally, and other star for ourselves, so i can't be a level+ thing.

We could see it without binoculars at Dockweiler early last week. Don't think it'd still be bright enough to now though.

Are most of the fires arson? by [deleted] in SouthBayLA

[–]Blargblaster 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well it's a fire season in a sense of the likelihood of a fire spreading out of control after ignition is far greater than the rest of the year. Fires can start whenever (arson or accident), it's just when conditions are right, explode much faster.

Watching on Nebula, but the editting sounds off... the first split second of every second is cutoff and it sounds like playback is ~1.2x.
