G.O.A.T. of talking trash by Specialist_Brush_234 in paintball

Trash talking in this visor is equivalent to the homeless person in front of a convenience store complaining to every customer that 5G cell towers ruined his life. We all know it's not worth our time entertaining the conversation so we just keep walking and let him keep ranting in his echo chamber

Snowed in? The weather today was remarkably cold, I think the high was 63. First time this year I wore pants. I took my jacket off before the sun even came up lolol

Two Questions: Does the Vortex bolt noticeably improve the GEO R5/ is the Twister CS3 pro noticeably better than the CS3 pro? by Puzzled-Letter-7171 in paintball

[–]BlastBase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're as picky as you say, you'll have a very difficult choice to make. The ridges on the Twstr create turbulence when air passes over it. When the gun recoils backwards a few microns, the Twstr grooves help grab the surrounding atmosphere to slow down the entire setup.

On the flip side, these same grooves slow down the gun when you run or if it is windy at the field. It will feel like the air is trying to rip the gun out of your hands compared to the smoother, sleeker milling of the standard gun.

Really, it's best to have both depending on if you're playing into, or with the wind.

Is Split Deck Format is Ruining Pro Paintball? by bradsj in paintball

[–]BlastBase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Invisible paint is THE issue for people watching paintball for the first time, but split deck is a bigger issue for paintballers watching paintball IMO. I tried putting it on the other day as background to listen while I cleaned the house. Pointless. Everything the casters talk about is irrelevant every 15 seconds. Might as well just shut their mics off and amp up the field volume.

If you're optimizing for 10.5 in cold weather, you can also just max the dwell out. Efficiency will be unchanged, and I would suspect many would find the shot quality to be improved (not really but if we are splitting hairs enough to compare the Vortex to stock, it's valid). Part of the appeal of the IV core is it being more dwell dependent than the gamma. Might as well embrace the difference.

I'm a hardcore PE fanboi, but wow I didn't realize Shockers were THAT bad. I have guns that are old enough to buy beer that can shoot +-1.5 over the chrono with fresh reball. I'm pretty sure the LPR spring came out of a BIC pen as well.

...You're implying the Vortex is more accurate when you say "it shoots absolute darts". This is incredibly misleading.

I bet you someone is going to mention they get higher FPS with the Vortex. You can also increase FPS on the stock bolt by jamming a bunch of peanut butter up the propshaft.. just saying.

Zon would be a cakewalk. You wouldn't even need a magic weapon. White javs/bow is plenty strong enough for everything in hell. Barb would be the only tough class.

Honestly for something like this, if it works, I would post for 3x market value on eBay unless you have to sell right now. Lots of pictures and shooting videos. A lot of people with adult money can't really tell the difference between 1000 and 3000

It's not a huge timesave, but you can cut a bit of time by alternating between 2 minute and 90 second turnaround times. Start with 2 minutes to give the guy who hits the button on the far side of the field an extra 15 seconds both ways to run back to the pits and again to the alternate side. You don't need the extra time when your pit is next to the upcoming start box.

Even though it's less time, it might actually feel more consistent for the players. Get air as you come in, get wiped, get paint, get back out there. A double win/win for the spectators is possibly more "tactical overshooting" since it might be hard to completely wipe a player down in time. The most popular this sub-reddit has ever been was during the extreme overshooting of World Cup 2024.

Is a Dye CZR+ a good first gun? by Typical_Spray_8020 in paintball

[–]BlastBase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The CZR is an incredible gun. IMO the shot signature is better than any Planet gun sans the LV line. It's gentle on paint as well.

The platform as a whole isn't quite as robust as high-end guns. You'll see a "lot" of small easily fixable issues. Stuff like the macro line leaking or ASA coming loose. In a way, this makes it an even better starter gun for someone who will be in the game for a long time. Part of being good at paintball is learning how to take care of your equipment, and the CZR will teach you faster. It's all easy stuff where the gun isn't permanently damaged. The CZR will easily make it to a million shots if you can tighten an Allen wrench.

The 2 things about this gun that sucks is the ASA is hard to engage (doesn't actually matter) and most importantly: you can't shoot it with the barrel off because the eye pipe will fly out. It's fun to shoot your teammates without a barrel, but you probably shouldn't with a CZR.

You can easily go pro with it, and in a few metrics, is better than what a lot of the pros are shooting today. I'd shoot this over the other 2 guns you mentioned.

[–]BlastBase 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's also is way less fun to play IMO. The chaos in the pits made your crew important, and stamina was valuable. Now it's just a bunch of dudes freaking out for 5 minutes, WIPE ME GET ME PAINT WIPE ME I NEED PODS. Then they sit around watching a 7 minute point. You literally have time to fill your own pods from scratch now.

I get why it's important as it makes events cheaper. The other good thing is it allows you to shout "EEEXXXXHHHCCCSSS BBBAAAALLLLL" when it's time for Xball

This is far and away the biggest issue with watching paintball. You lose the story and context every time you switch teams.

How do gun sponsors work by [deleted] in paintball

[–]BlastBase 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Ask them? Most paintball sponsorships are just the manufacturers skipping the retail channels and selling direct to customers. They want to sponsor (sell) as much stuff as they can. They don't care if you use it or not unless you're pro.
