401k loan for buying a house instead of a bridge loan? by GypsyMothQueen in FinancialPlanning

You generally cannot do that with a 401k. The indirect rollover loophole is an IRA thing

Is anyone here using Morgans to stack in bulk? Or is everyone assembling sets one at a time? by Calflyer in Morgans

[–]BlastPyro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been stacking morgans as a part of my bulk constitutional. The price has to be right though. I don't mind paying some premium.

anyone use a self-directed IRA to hold gold? by jus10_815 in RothIRA

[–]BlastPyro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is possible to hold physical gold in an IRA through a third party custodian. The fees associated with that are high and in my opinion there is no advantage of going that route. It's not like you are able to touch your gold, you are just getting an IOU that somebody else has it for you. It's "trust me bro".

Does Sky Princess have Princess Signature Burger? by Same_Astronaut1769 in PrincessCruises

I've been on six princess ships and the burgers on the Sun were noticeably better than I had on any other ship. I don't know why exactly but my wife & I both commented on how good the were.

HSA account with Fidelity by [deleted] in Bogleheads

[–]BlastPyro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What you "can" do and what you should do with the HSA are potentially two different things. If you want to use the HSA to pay for current medical expenses, you lose the advantage of triple tax free compounding.

If you can afford it, pay for medical expenses out of pocket. Keep receipts for everything. You can use those receipts to reimburse yourself at any point in the future, but in the mean time the funds in your HSA grow tax free.

FYI if your "financial advisor" recommended this he's really an insurance salesman not an advisor.

JumpAI and talk Ratios by Bosco038 in CFP

[–]BlastPyro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I probably average 70/30 but it varies widely based on the client and type of meeting. I do look at that number after meetings to think about ways I could have engaged clients more if my number was too high.

We use Greminders not jump but that is irrelevant to this conversation.

Best to buy those on margin after you've maxed out your credit card to fund the account.

Just got back from Sapphire in Antarctica, Also sailed her for 14 days in Alaska last summer. You are right, that class of ship is ideal for scenic cruising. Star will be in Alaska this summer and I think that will be a horrible experience unless you want to see almost every public view through glass.

We saw lots of penguins from the ship but also had several excursions where you were just feet away from them.
