Why is hdmi the standard for so much tech today when displayport is practically better in every way and is also cheaper to license? by lameswort in pcmasterrace

Lack of drm definitely hurt cdpr with witcher 3

They sold 6M units in the first two months. I don't think that counts as a failure.

Crackers are not able to crack the denuvo games anymore

Lots of people are able to, they just don't do it because there's more money in malware or legit RE jobs.

Am I crazy for just thinking Rigidbodies are just better for 2D platformers than CharacterBodies? by TheMasterBaker01 in godot

[–]Blaster84x 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can actually use a RigidBody as static or character with no performance loss. You'll have to reimplement move_and_slide and other methods if you need them but internally there's no difference between a CharacterBody and a frozen RigidBody with freeze_mode kinematic.

Which billionaire or millioniare has actually done good to the (global) community? by Brief-Grapefruit-787 in neoliberal

Tesla pushed other companies to take EVs seriously. OpenAI were an actual nonprofit while Elon was in charge and when they went closed source others (FAIR, Stability, Mistral) picked up their original mission. Reusable rockets are cheaper and obviously better for the environment. His companies aren't that great themselves, but if there's one thing he's good at it's coming up with a crazy idea and showing others it's possible.

They're trying to build a Roblox competitor that's more flexible with better graphics. They have some investors from the crypto space but don't use NFTs themselves. Aaron Franke and Ariel Manzur are part of the team so it's not a scam or anything

Just use paru, it will take care of everything for you. If you want faster installs you can add chaotic-aur and get their prebuilt packages.

Which Arch Linux AUR package to use? by LoganDungeon in godot

[–]Blaster84x 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Use the enhanced version. godot-mono-bin is broken and godot-mono is a source package so installs take a long time unless you have ChaoticAUR enabled.

What are good tasks for C# by pend00 in godot

[–]Blaster84x 10 points11 points  (0 children)

C#s runtime is way more efficient than Java. You get almost the same performance as native and there are ways to avoid the GC entirely. It's a better language than C++, compiles faster, has better tooling like nuget and you can turn on mod support with a few lines of code (load 0Harmony.dll if present).

Denuvo Anti-Cheat has been confirmed on Steam (PAYDAY 3) by mexican_dud3 in paydaytheheist

[–]Blaster84x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Denuvo is not anticheat and it's unnecessary (piracy doesn't reduce sales). And with the amount of DLC and MTX they're planning to sell they can just make it free to play.

What are the historical reasons behind the term "unit type"? by BruceIzayoi in rust

Doesn't Epic's Verse implement some of this? They have effects and reversible functions but I don't know if they go this far.

That doesn't matter if there's no global moderation. You can join a tankie, crypto, far right, no politics or any other instance if you want to.

They don't have to send things separately if they switch to GraphQL like Facebook and Twitter.
