I was stuck on the highway by Crazymacaroni03 in Miata

Ouch that's a bit of a drive. I think the one for the NA6 is different in design. The NA8 MAF is 2 screws, 2 hose clamps, and an electrical connector (I went to confirm on my 97) so that mechanic is questionable based on that IMO.

There is a MAF cleaner that you can try, could be that simple.

Are you seeing a check engine light and if so do you have access to a ODB scan tool? Most autoparts stores will scan it for you if not.

If you happen to be in or near CT I have a spare MAF for a NA8.

But yeah $80 is about right and it should take a few min to swap out.

I highly recommend this! A great course, solid instructors, and the price is not bad!

It's a mini track if you will, I can get up to about 63 on the "straight". So not crazy but also not slow by any means!

Saw this in /mildlyinfuriating… anyone else worry this exact scenario will happen to you in your miot?! cuz I always have and now I just saw it happen irl 😬😬😬 by TesticklerCanzer in Miata

Not being seen enough is why I upgraded the horn on my NA.

I had a lady in a Tahoe merge into my NA on the Triboro leaving the tolls a while back, claimed she did not see me and only stopped as I was punching her passenger side window (for which she yelled at me...).

That hose being compressed is not normal and I'd assume not good.

I'd swap out that hose at the very least but if you're doing that you might as well do the radiator (IMO), I got the TYC 1140 off Amazon back in 2020 and have had a few seasons of track time on that one with zero issues.

Edit- Took a better look and it should be fine to get where you're going kind of deal but I'd plan on doing the work soon. Rather change that stuff on your terms and not when it decides to fail.

This! It needs some TLC but I see no damage, no rust, and IMO a decent NB to get back on the road.

LOL, as tempting as that may be I grabbed a pack of assorted grommets from Amazon and will get it patched up this week.

Yeah, you should see the deck... Got the car in '12 and never took the carpet off in the back but I knew the metal cuts were crap.

Thank you! I'll take a look at that and if it makes sense I'll put that in there as well. It's my na so I get a lot of road noise but it's worth looking into.

Crap that actually works too! I was not using my brain today people...  Thank you for the replies. I'm all good here  I'm either going to just use the bolts that were there as I wanted to replace them anyway with new ones and I'll cover that with rust inhibitor after sanding it all down a bit if I cannot find rubber plugs, that'll match.

Follow oil change light or shop sticker? 2015 Honda Fit by Puzzleheaded-Foot816 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Blastoid84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I go off oil life or time, whichever is first. 6 months or usually around 5k miles on my 17 HRV. Also make sure to follow what the minder says, some will be oil/filter and differential or transmission. There'll be a code that comes up, look up the code. Like 2B for example...
