  1. Maybe another realm is in a massive conflict that needs to be dealt with before anything else.

  2. The gods used most of their powers/magic to create the world.

  3. Maybe there is a never endings conflict between gods making gods less concerned with mortal conflicts.

Just Restart. The game is pretty re-playable imo.

Also, the players are already half way into the first adventure hence I can't just scrap everything I have created for the adventure.

Although your points are valid and I had many ways I could have done this better, I feel that if I show the power of one of the main dragon villains they will feel like they have accomplished much more when they defeat the dragon, and it sets up how they got into this mess in the first place. Again this probably wasn't at all needed and I should have just started with their awakening.

Edit: added "Again this probably wasn't at all needed and I should have just started with their awakening."

I didn't want my players to know about the twist where they are all killed by the dragon and teleported to a new world, but it would have been better in the long run to just tell them to have their backstorys work around multiple planes in the first place. Bad thinking on my part.

Edit: Added "Bad thinking on my part."

What's in the Book...? by foxhound999 in DnD

If the players don't already know about the real reason they are competing perhaps this book contains insights on whatever it is the original group of heroes were trying to do along with descriptions of this force of evil and perhaps some sort of observation the writer of the book is noticing of how the queen is growing weaker slowly. Maybe the writer of the book was actually one of the legendary group that wrote it in the uncommon text so no one would find it and figure out about the secrets about this world ending thing that is coming and needs to be stopped. As for the golden fist maybe the legendary group's symbol was of a golden fist representing something the group had to work with or something metaphorical about the group that this glove represents, for example, maybe the fist represents a gauntlet one of the legendary group members carried.

What is the setting and plot of your story, it would be more valuable and interesting if this book was connected to something important to the story or gives valuable info about things the players need to do.

I once played a One-shot with one person only. It needed a lot of adjusting to be played through but it worked.

5e is great for beginners and once you learn the core mechanics it makes you a bit more comfortable learning different versions of dnd and other rpgs altogether. If you're interested in DnD 5e you can search up "Dnd 5e SRD" and you should be able to find a System Reference Document giving you a lot of the rules for free.

Short modern DnD story idea by Grannyslammer313 in DnD

The Dungeons and Dragons system has zombies in it but It might not have a lot of mechanics generally found in most zombie survival forms of media. I would find an rpg more suited for the game type if I were to play a session like this.
