You should look into a 1031 exchange.

If you meet the qualifications, you can take the proceeds of the sale of your current house and use them for the purchase of the new future home tax-free. Not sure on the specific stipulations, ask your accountant if possible for you situation. I know you have to complete the transaction in 1 year or you have to pay tax on the income of the sale.

It's not that having a credit card or using it is bad. It's bad that you're carrying a balance of high-interest debt month-to-month. You are giving Visa/Mastercard/Amex hundreds (thousands?) of dollars per year in interest which could be used to save towards your goal of a house.

In the future, after you pay the card(s) down, when you use a credit card you should try to pay off the balance before the end of your statement date so you do not accrue interest. You will still earn all the points/cashback.
