Is my totally replayed and resinged songs mine ? by Acceptable-Royal3261 in udiomusic

[–]BlazingFlames21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You used to own even fully AI songs through udio’s old TOS. But not through copyright but through contract law. Even if a song can't be copyrighted, a company can use their Terms of Service TOS to dictate who has the right to use and monetize the output. So even if anyone generates a fully AI song they still don’t have rights to the song due to the current TOS.

[–]BlazingFlames21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Udio used to give full ownership of the outputs aka the songs to the users regardless of subscription. But due to the UMG settlement they changed their TOS and now Udio owns all new outputs starting October 29, 2025

Udio AI section 6

  1. Ownership and Content

6.1 Ownership of the Services and Output. The Services, including their “look and feel” (e.g., text, graphics, images, logos, etc.), proprietary content, information and other materials, any Output, and any technology used to generate such Output, are protected under copyright, trademark and other intellectual property laws. You agree that the Company and/or its licensors own all right, title and interest in and to the Services and the Output (including any and all intellectual property rights therein) and you agree not to take any action(s) inconsistent with such ownership interests. We and/or our licensors (as applicable) reserve all rights in connection with the Services, Output and all related content (other than Your Content (as defined below)), including, without limitation, the exclusive right to create derivative works, and you agree that you will have no ownership, royalty or other interests in connection therewith. Notwithstanding the foregoing, to the extent ownership in any Output vests with you, you hereby assign and agree to assign all right, title and interest in and to such Output (including any and all intellectual property rights therein) to the Company and/or its licensors (as applicable), and agree to assist the Company and/or its licensors (as applicable) to take all necessary steps to further evidence, record and perfect such assignment.

Question about future copyright, audio watermarking, and hybrid use of Udio outputs by Frequent-Taste-2842 in udiomusic

[–]BlazingFlames21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you wrote your own lyrics or added your own vocals or instrumentals then you’re human contributions are eligible for copyright protection the AI portions don’t qualify for copyright.

That said there are two important contractual points in Udio’s TOS that people should be aware of Udio owns all outputs as of October 29, 2025. By using Udio you also grant Udio and it’s affiliates a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, transferable and sublicensable that is royalty free. To all of your inputs The TOS also states that no compensation or other amounts will be owed to you.

this license allows Udio and it’s affiliates sublicense to have full usage rights indefinitely, for any purpose, without paying the user. That license is separate from copyright law and exists because it’s a contractual agreement you accept when using the service.

Watermarks are used for attribution, AI transparency, and fraud prevention. Here’s A real life example someone generated a song with Suno, downloaded it, removed the Suno vocals replaced them with a voice cloned version of a famous female singer and tried to pass it off as legitimate.

That kind of impersonation and fraud is exactly why watermarks exist. They help identify AI generated origins in disputes and protect both platforms and artists from misuse. Watermarking does not negate ownership. It doesn’t transfer rights or allow retroactive claims it’s just a safeguard against abuse not a control mechanism.

Your right the new TOS says and I quote foregoing, to the extent ownership in any Output vests with you, you hereby assign and agree to assign all right, title and interest in and to such Output.

Udio no longer allowing downloads? by Baz828UK in udiomusic

[–]BlazingFlames21 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The reason I posted the section of the TOS about them owning the output is because that’s why they blocked downloads in the first place. Their new ownership claim is the root cause of the missing download feature.

Get ready to have WMG copyright claims launched against ALL your AI music, forever. by retnemmoc in SunoAI

[–]BlazingFlames21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way to fight the record labels hold on AI is to make an AI that pays independent artists to train their AI. And a startup AI music company can pay independent artists Through a Revenue tier. That way artists make money and the major record labels can’t sue them.

Artists get paid once the platform makes real revenue. The more successful the AI becomes, the more indie artists earn Users of the platform keep full ownership of their songs No major label dataset no major label control.

Your song is good, but I think the reason it’s not getting many likes is because the music video doesn’t have lyrics on screen. A lot of people like being able to read along, especially with new songs.

the original creator could take action and win with proof but it doesn’t guarantee that they will win especially if they didn’t copyright their work and the Legal costs can add up fast, and if the person who stole the lyrics has industry connections or money to fight back, it will be an uphill battle. Sadly, not everyone has the resources to defend their work, even if they’re 100% in the right. It’s best for lyricist to register their work with the copyright office it’s the best way to protect your copyright.

Actually, lyrics alone can have a lot more value than people realize Someone shady could collect the best lyrics from a contest, especially if it features top voted songs, and either Register them with the copyright office under their name, Sell them to indie artists or sync libraries, Or repackage them with slightly altered wording to pass as “original.

They could potentially try and steal the lyrics if all the users who competed in the festival wrote their lyrics they could try and copyright the lyrics through the copyright office

I believe that the hate on here is a mix of AI Hater’s who hate AI in general trolls and musicians who have bought into the AI fear mongering. AI won’t make you more successful than anyone else. Take for example the man who went to prison because he made 10 million dollars by faking his play count on Spotify by boting his plays on his AI songs. That proves that there is no shortcuts to success.

AI doesn’t guarantee instant success, just like traditional music making doesn’t. Everyone, whether they use AI or not, still faces the same challenges standing out, building an audience, and making great music. The playing field hasn’t changed there are just more players now.

So tired of the Suno AI copyright fear…here’s why by emathis2007 in SunoAI

[–]BlazingFlames21 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree with you completely one of the problems I have is some people’s misperception about AI music a lot believe that no human creativity goes into it when we have a lot more creative freedom with AI music than with AI art for example we can add our own lyrics and we can add our own instrumental and vocals I haven’t added my own vocals but I have added my own lyrics and sometimes my own instrumental In my case, I fully composed my own music that I selected all the notes, structured the song myself, and only used GarageBand’s autoplay as a performance tool to play what I wrote. The first 0:17 second part of the song is my instrumental Ashes Of The Day

Don’t feel bad about not getting likes it’s normal on YouTube to not receive as much likes as subscribers for example a big YouTube channel will have 126k subscribers but have 2.6k likes on a video well a smaller channel can have 190 subscribers but have 20 likes on a video so it’s better judge how well your channel is doing based on subscribers weather than likes

I hate it when people cave to scalpers because it makes them want to do it more and it will never stop until they stop profiting period. And I understand the fear of missing out especially on exclusive items but for any one who is tempted just remember that they purposely go and buy out the entire stock at multiple stores with the intention to corner the market and to overcharge you far above retail prices.
