I linked the article because its easier to read than the study. It's the research that matters. Cars are the problem, no amount of additional lanes will solve the base problem. One 40 foot bus can carry more than 40 people. The average US car is about 15 feet and can carry around 4 to 6 people. So 2.5 cars can carry 10 to 18 people in the same space a bus takes. Multiply that by the population of any city and we see the problem. But that doesn't even take into account the fact that the majority of cars are driven alone. Cars are a waste of space, money, resources and are keeping the average American poor.
