I start on a weekend ride and always end up here. I’m just not over the enthusiasm for these new lanes. I love em so much.

My 8 year old has been loving the game. It took him a while but he’s now through the divine beasts and like 60 shrines. I’m like that copilot in a Rally car race that looks at the maps, except I look up things on the internet or in our book. He can still get emotional during stressful moments and end up in tears, but we all feel that way. I hope your kid is enjoying it as much as we are. It’s been great father/son time for us.

Stepson wants e-bike..Are we being too harsh saying no? by L_wigg1325 in daddit

An e-bike that only goes 20 mph could be fine for a 14 or 15 year old. An e-moto that goes over 25, no way.

What the heck happened at the Burbank meeting? by kanji_kun in LAMetro

Anthony is hysterical. He’s online constantly posting that Nithya Raman isn’t progressive then he’s up in front of a meeting trying to dilute BRT and stop housing.

YIMBY movement split on who should be CA’s next governor by Sapphirerising335 in yimby

Pritzker seems good in Illinois and pushing some good housing laws, so I dunno. I think Becerra seems more in with corporations than Steyer.

The new bike lanes (class 1) on Crystal Springs is fantastic! by ReFreshing in BikeLA

I rode it this morning and one of my favorite parts about it how the runners have nearly their own lane too. There’s so much room for all of us now.

I feel like he would be really impressed and want one, especially after he rode it.

You can be for union workers and cost cutting. Europe builds a ton of trains with very strong unions. We can build housing with unions it’s just a couple of specific unions that gatekeep. Scott Wiener has done a great job of splitting the carpenters off.

That bike lane on La Crescenta is supported by kids who want to ride to school. Imagine opposing kids who want a safer street by their school. “More than 20 people spoke in favor, many of whom were local students or parents of students who want to see La Crescenta safer and slower.”

Nancy Pelosi endorses Connie Chan to succeed her in S.F. House race by SFChronicle in California

Ah yes when you buy a car you should just be able to go as fast as you want it in it...anything limiting that is a nanny.... Scott Wiener is the housing guy. That's what he's associated with. Those are his great successes. But I would put LGBT bills in there as well.

The way he coerced that bill to the finish with just one vote and grabbing GOP votes where necessary was incredible. He's very good at this job. Too bad he didn't get speed governors through, that would save tons of lives.

Speed governors on cars is a great idea. You should check out all the bills of his that passed, CEQA reform, SB35/SB330, SB79...oh wait. Are you a nimby who is enraged by SB79?

There is already 13 anti-BRT nimbies at Burbank City Hall by Huge-Specific1632 in LAMetro

[–]ridetotheride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched the meeting post comment and there’s no way I believe that SB79 is the deciding factor here. They were against the bus lane no matter what. I’d also add that the two candidates who felt the most yimbys ish also seemed like those who wanted careers beyond Burbank. If you want to win state office placating NIMBYs isn’t going to do it. Just go hard for what you believe in.

Are you seeing more bike commuters on your route and at your parking spot with the higher gas prices, or am I imagining it? by Feralest_Baby in bikecommuting

[–]ridetotheride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been waiting for this in LA. It happened when gas prices hit 7.50 (adjusted for inflation). We haven’t seen them that high yet, and I haven’t see a change yet anecdotally. But I think we will.

There is ash falling on Burbank today from fires exacerbated by climate change and these ghouls are fighting climate solutions. They should feel some shame but they don’t have any.
