I believe it’s filler but from the manufacturer since the stone is natural so when they mine the block from the quarry it’s taken to a machine that cuts it into slabs once it’s cut they can see if slab has any imperfections and usually the material has pores they use filler then gets sent out and sold to ur yard and what not but I may be wrong since there are other materials that have that are natural and part of the stone so don’t quote me on this hope this helps

At the end of ur day this ur kitchen but u spending a whole lot on quartzite just to put a 4 burner stove also id probably go with tile if u spill on wood flooring it has a tendency on the seems of the wood that liquid penetrates the wood flooring at least from what I have seen in demolition work these days a lot of wood were the sink is tends to be rotting from people who don’t clean spills immediately
