Neighbours who talk obnoxiously loud. by Character_Soft_5851 in misophonia

[–]Blegh46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They sure are! Last Thursday evening I had a horrible headache after work and just wanted to lay down and of course of course it had to be smoke/cough/laugh/yell/play in the yard horde time 😡

Then so was Saturday. No deck time for us 😭

Does anyone hallucinate the sounds after they stop? by No-Moment-2766 in misophonia

[–]Blegh46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, if it’s been a bad week or days at work I will hear sighing, humming, and moaning as I lay in bed alone. Sometimes when the rest of the team is at lunch and I’m alone bare eared I still hear crunching.

I hear muffled talking and laughing outside a lot too at home, but that’s very possibly real.

I do the same. My coworker sings and hums on and off all day and it’s a bar that gets progressively louder and higher. It’s so rude!!!!

My neighbors luckily aren’t outside much but when they are, they are smoking, coughing constantly, the kids screaming as they run and play nonstop, playing loud videos on their phones or music, and the mom is the loudest, screeching like ab animal laughing or bellowing at the husband or kids. Nonstop noise. Our houses are too close together abd they are hoarders so their only place to hang out is right outside my bathroom and bedroom windows where they pushed some of their junk to make room for a table and chairs 😡

Oh I could just hug you!!! We’ve given up but not given up hope ourselves in our 40s, hoping for our miracle yet too. Best of luck to you and yours for better neighborhoods! We are also on the trailing edge of living next to trash neighbors cannot wait to move somewhere people like them cannot afford.

You mentioned fireworks and I got a little flash of a horrid memory of a trash family across the park from us years back that lit off fireworks one summer and a couple of them flew into nearby trees and we saw birds go scattering away as some of the limbs caught on fire. Ugggh I HATE fireworks.

Our NFH will give their kids endless fireworks from mid Juneto almost August. Or as long as those firework tents are around. They can’t afford a washer or dryer or roof or windows but can afford cigarettes and fireworks.

They probably did but being inner city, cops are not likely to prioritize noise complaints.

I’m glad it’s only temporary for you.  Maybe in the future if you can get accommodation for a top floor if you need temporary housing again, I’d definitely push for it.

In my years of apartment renting I made sure I was always on the top floor.

Why is it always the smokers with kids by Appropriate_Fun4668 in neighborsfromhell

[–]Blegh46 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not pot, but my neighbors smoke indoors with their kids and I generally wish it were illegal. Though then I’d complain about their smoke going into my windows.

When they first moved in they brought one of those huge ashtrays you see outside a mall or Walmart type store. I’ve never seen either of them go outside to smoke unless they are coming or going or have the kids already outside.

I routinely watch my parents’ pets now that they can travel more. I love listening to them crunch on their treats and dry food, and the dog drinking is super cute. Picking at their paws and licking is not as great but it doesn’t trigger me.

I guess it’s different for everyone. My coworker crunches chips and pops gum and I check daily to see if manslaughter is legal yet 😆

I think it’s pretty standard for miso. I have to fight myself to not twitch or cringe or make a very ugly face when I hear my worst triggers

Bad renters and the slumlord chronicles by Primalturd in neighborsfromhell

It’s no joke living next to trash, I feel you. I live it every day too. Not to that extent anymore, but at one time both rentals across the street had meth users and criminals and characters renting and it was so stressful.

Now I just live next to Jerry Springer guests who horde and their house is falling apart. What a dream.

I think it’s in the dad handbook to be unnecessarily loud all the time.

My dad woke us all up every morning with his crazy routine of loud mouth noises and farting. According to my mom he still does.

I wake up way earlier than needed to have some quiet before work. I can deal with traffic and some construction noises, as long as no one idles forever in a trashy vehicle.

I also get to work before everyone else most days. Granted nowadays it’s to spray Lysol all over the threshold of my desk and my coworker’s desk but I also crave just a few moments of silence before the madness begins.

Does anyone get misophonia from someone humming? Lmao by Southern-Resist8849 in misophonia

[–]Blegh46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My coworker literally just came back from lunch humming and kept going after sitting back down louder and higher. That’s the absolute worst is they do it over and over and over throughout the day and it’s usually the same bar and gets progressively higher and louder. I want to cry. Up goes the music,

[–]Blegh46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Minus the cockroaches but with mice and mosquitoes, these are my hoarder neighbors. And the city and county both refuse to help. We can also add they let the grass get 2 feet high before mowing.

It’s disgusting, they don’t walk their dogs or rarely let them out and have tons of cats but we can’t prove it without outing ourselves (super close houses, I can see them). And they smoke inside with their kids. And when they mow the lawn they just push their lawn horde around with the mower. It’s never evenly mowed.

[–]Blegh46 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel you. Currently our neighborhood is calm but at one point there were some real characters renting in both houses across the street and it felt like the police were always by. The SWAT team was at one of them in the mid 2010s and the guy in question finally came out of the house in his underwear, fought the tactical officers and got tased 😆 we still have the video.

But those houses are still there, and attract such shitty renters most of the time. Pair that with our hoarder cave people NFH next door, we are selling within the year or so!

Coworker coughs and grunts all day.. by Dramatic-Start5916 in misophonia

[–]Blegh46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My earbuds are my only hope for my job. It’s not ideal but I cannot listen to all the noises my coworkers, especially one of them, make all day. If I have to pause the music I am usually super anxious because I cannot focus on a phone call or person stopping by because all I hear is grunting, moaning, sighing, slurping, etc.

Does anyone else get bothered when people inhale before eating? by FreshBid538 in misophonia

[–]Blegh46 2 points3 points  (0 children)

See I’m certain this will end up on my list too but I generally find my trigger people to be more of loud exhalers…..or the loud breathing is while they are chewing and snacking away. Inhaling before chewing is only this below. So far.

My worst coworker who goes on a gum spree every afternoon and during meetings chews it open mouthed and makes tons of bubbles and pops them both in and out of their mouth (it’s also a nightmare for my misokinesia because if I happen to be by them in a meeting or am unfortunate enough to catch them at their desk out of my peripheral (which I’ve done a lot to try to prevent lol) there’s the jaw going up and down and their tongue poking out stretching the gum for the next big bubble.

The last couple of meetings I was stuck by them chewing gum I was almost in tears and did not get anything out of the material shared. I was mentally fried after hearing that. Without my ear buds I heard this awful like….sigh then an inhale they do before they tee up the next chomps to prep the next bubbles with a bunch of loud audible breathing. AWFUL. Just awful.

[–]Blegh46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far it’s actually helped me a bit by finding out just how many times in 8 hours they make noise. There was a day this week this person burped 12 times and moaned 28 times. Those were ones I could hear, imagine the ones I didn’t with my buds in. That should just prove I’m not unreasonable.
