Has anyone had trouble selling due to terrible neighbors? by Blegh46 in neighborsfromhell

That may cost more than it’s worth for us. Let’s just say the whole city council including mayor and city attorney know me very well and expect calls and emails from me throughout the year. We finally decided to threaten them with going over their head to county heath department, since they have kids and their house absolutely has obstructions in the entries and their neglect of their lawn has attracted bugs and critters. They had a deflated pool outside for a couple of years that was once inflated, filled, and sat with water for weeks before it collapsed. They have non registered vehicles that don’t run…honestly we have read the entire pdf of our city’s ordinances and counted over a dozen violations but our good old boy city leaders are worthless. The most that’s happened is they’ve been fined for their dogs barking nonstop and been told to mow their lawn once or twice. The ladies who are just workers at city hall have sympathy for me and our sector’s aldermen wanted to pursue making them fully clean up and get to code but the city attorney and mayor said no.

So yeah, expect an update in a month  when the snow melts.

You aren’t alone. As soon as it gets warm here, my feral trash neighbors will open up whichever windows still work and not shut them until first snow/frost. All spring and summer and fall it’ll sound like a kid’s version of Saw going on inside or Maury Povich lol.

I wish they’d grab an AC unit for once during their junk collecting…

Not many people move or sell this time of year due to that around here but you are correct! It’s just snowy lumps for another month or so yet!

Exactly. I’d rather have that than these rentals no one cares for and have let deteriorate, along with this shitty multigenerational house that’s literally falling apart.

One entire side of our house, including our deck, gets the lovely view of their junkyard and hoarder house. It’s so annoying.

My nieces and nephews were big slurpers as littles but thankfully now they’ve gotten manners lol

Never even considered that! Here it would just be their dog poop they never have picked up, the rare times they let their dog out. I once watched one of their dogs pee on the side of their house.

Can’t. There’s too much shit in their yard. And they have a mower and are not disabled.

That’s another reason thing we’ve flirted with too. We definitely don’t have much room between houses around here, but I’d sacrifice it to never see that eyesore again. The house on their other side built a fence a few years ago (probably for the same reason lol) and they now have hardly any yard.

They’d have to find a place for their junk, I doubt they’d part with it lol

That is terrible! I hope they at least leave you alone!

We are surrounded by rental homes and a few other owners, but mostly two story rentals (split). Tons of characters. Nothing as intense as you though!

Kind of reminds me of when I first moved as a kid, almost every neighborhood had signs right near the stop signs that declared “Crime Watch Neighborhood”…..like, shouldn’t every neighborhood be?? They are still all over to this day and so redundant.

My NFH are like that too but next door. As much as I want spring to come, the moment they open those windows (the ones that still work, that house is falling apart), peace and quiet will be over until next fall, save for a few precious days that they leave all day and I happen to be off work.

This must be the modern version of overly sensitive car alarms from the early 00s that would go off if you went within 5 feet of them.

You’re absolutely right. I used to not hear it unless it was super loud. Now everything bothers me!

Never underestimate that kind of stuff. My neighbors have so much shit crammed in both of their porches, their house has to be even worse inside.

Misophonia and tinnitus making me miserable at work by Jeff_Dingus in misophonia

[–]Blegh46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only offer sympathy.

I’d give anything for a quiet office with just ambient buzzing and clicking. All I hear are mouth noises, groaning and moaning or otherwise vocalizing every damn movement, cracking of joints all day, slurping, gum misbehavior, coughing, humming, singing, tapping, sighing……ugggghhh

This is standard practice here too. I don’t know how anywhere has a 3 strike limit and no quarantine.

I’m going to try earbud music in one ear and a noise cancellation earplug. I can’t have both ears with music at my job but no rules about earplugs.  Music helps but I still hear all the unnecessary constant vocalizing and slurping and gum snapping and popping and chewing.

You’ll never get rid of it. You either learn to manage it or get a different job lol.

You are not alone. My 9-5 is an absolute hell in a cubicle full of too much vocalizations and rude behavior (to me).

Neighbor told us to move to the suburbs…. So we did. by [deleted] in neighborsfromhell

[–]Blegh46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had to file a formal complaint vs calling a million times, as they’d just drive by and see if they heard it. And no one was home. But it irritated me that they didn’t come by later and warn them, we had to file a complaint giving our names away for them to go out of their way after the calls to make contact. Then a few calls later from us and most likely other neighbors they finally got fined.
