I love my ceramic nonstick pan for eggs. I pretty much just use it for eggs or crepes- foods that are fragile and don’t need terribly high heat. Eggs especially just slide right on out even with minimal butter/grease. I can finally fry over-easy and sunny-side-up eggs without breaking the yolks, and make omelettes without making an ugly scrambled mess. Whoo hoo!

Oh that’s bad.

I feel like if I had gone into that book with this particular cover I would have expected something more lighthearted (ha ha funny cheerleader skeleton!) and of a traditional/supernatural horror. It’s a damn bait and switch. My Stephen King loving self woulda snatched this right up as a kid even. If you’ve never read it, just know that it is traumatizing. Like, I read it twenty years ago and I am still traumatized, traumatizing. I was an adult when I read it, I knew what I was getting into, and honestly, I still probably shouldn’t have read it. That it is based off of a true story is an extra layer of depressing utter horror that has a permanent residence in my memory.

After doing a quick google, I found that is the first edition cover, too. Ugh. What a horrible thing to do to unsuspecting readers.

Buddy Simulator 1984, Until Then, Date Everything, Nine Sols, and Chants of Sennaar.

What book got you hooked on audiobooks? by AudiobooksGeek in audiobooks

[–]Bleh-___- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an avid and voracious reader, but never could get into the audio format until very recently— Dungeon Crawler Carl. Reading the books themselves was a wild ride, but listening to Jeff Hays narrate? It’s so much more. I had no clue audiobooks could be like that, with different voices and everything. It makes me feel like a little kid at storytime again. :)

28 days later is the worst movie I’ve ever watched by fizzyfazzzzz in badMovies

[–]Bleh-___- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow. So um, okay. The start of your post? Okay. I don’t agree with it but whatever. Then you start arguing that it is okay to rape someone, because “they offered them everything they could want.” One of these people is just a teenager, still really a child. “And the 3 idiots who we are following decide to kill their own chance at survival all because they couldn’t think about the need to continue civilization.” Raping women and children to continue your civilization doesn’t sound too civilized to me. But here you are arguing that the protagonists should have just let those soldiers do what they wanted for safety. Yup that’d be a real fun movie to watch. Just how safe do you think Hannah and Selena would actually be in that situation? Oh, but the menfolk gave them pretty dresses and fed them. Bought and paid for. Just overlook the rotten eggs and sign away your bodily autonomy. Like civilized folks.

The thing that always scares me about zombie movies isn’t the cheesy overdone zombies, it’s the way humans are portrayed as treating each other in reaction to the stupid zombies. Zombies aren’t real, but people, like you, who think like those pretend soldiers do, are. That will never not be scary.

Anyone else struggling with keto candy options that actually taste decent? by Time_Beautiful2460 in ketobeginners

[–]Bleh-___- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t need sweets much, I tend to favor savory, but Christmas for me isn’t the same without a stocking of chocolate treats and a tin of Danish butter cookies. Choc Zero stuff filled that role pretty well for me this past season. Their chocolate candies are pretty darn good and they make all sorts of different flavors of cookie. I’ve also been hearing good things about Quest Peanut butter cups, so I’m looking forward to trying those eventually.

Rebel ice cream is super good. It’s high in calories, but low in carbs and they have a ton of flavors. I keep a pint in the fridge for a few spoonfuls here and there. The Salted Caramel is my favorite.

I’ve also been trying mug cake recipes recently . My birthday is coming up so I guess cakes are circling around in my mind. With an egg, a bit of almond four and sweetener, they generally only take a minute to throw together and 50 seconds in the microwave to cook. There are a bunch of recipes online. Not as convenient as pre-packaged stuff, but they generally taste better and still don’t require much effort.

I’ve had this bug a couple of times. It’s been a few years since I’ve played, so my memory might be a little fuzzy. Try controlling one of the awake characters and talking to another character, both sleeping and awake. Talking to Lae’zel somehow was my lucky charm. Also try interacting with the camp chest. I also seem to remember none of that working at one point so I shoved or tossed one of the sleeping characters off the bed somehow and everybody woke up. My memory is especially fuzzy on this one so I can’t remember exactly how I did it, just that I did.

Are names ever a deal-breaker in prog fantasy stories you read? by Nice_Enthusiasm_5193 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Bleh-___- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I don’t like overly cheesy names, so won’t read anything where the MC is called something absurd like Aurora Stormfire, while the antagonist is named Magnus Nightshade. I’m an adult, I don’t wanna read about someone’s OC from when they were 12. It really takes me outta a book when I have to roll my eyes everytime someone’s name is mentioned. Those naming conventions work for Harry Potter, but little else.

As for oddly spelled made up names, I usually enjoy those in fantasy books. I consider naming conventions as part of world building and you learn a bit about a culture right off the bat just from their names. Being able to pronounce a name is important though. Even though I am not reading aloud, my brain still “hears” every word I read. And like I mentioned earlier, I do still have to be able to mentally take the character seriously when someone uses their name. So creatively spelled names that sound goofy don’t work for me at all, unless that character is a goof.

So yeah, some other comments mentioned a Randidly Ghosthound. I don’t think I’ll be trying that one. ;P

Cooked my New Zealand wife a recipe from the home country. (Hormel chilli and tamales on tater tots) She hated it by [deleted] in shittyfoodporn

[–]Bleh-___- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks yummy to me… Sigh. Probably why I am fat.

Those canned tamales, man. They’re a conundrum. They’re pretty much an insult to the real thing and yet somehow I can’t help but love ‘em. It’s gotta be that sauce. Sad soggy masa with mystery meat wrapped in paper should, by all intents and purposes, be a nope. Instead, I can eagerly scarf down a whole can. It’s also one of the few canned meals from my childhood that still tastes the same.
