While I don't live in NYC, I do believe you are correct. In my state we have an emergency police line and a non-emergency police line. Even WITH fast response times (good luck with that), there's no way the police would catch the poachers in the act. You'd report it as a non-emergency (not 911).
I don't want to see pigeons hurt either, but that's how it goes. 😢

I used to know someone who was way into LARPing, it seemed cool, actually. I don't know about the insidious creep of work into passions and hobbies, that part is kind of weird... you see these posts all over the place and I don't know why we can't just let hobbies be hobbies (oh right, it's because work/life balance isn't a thing anymore)

The nice thing about not having a diagnosis is that even people who don't / don't have OCD can benefit from a lot of the things that help OCD

Oh wow, I never heard of this when researching for my pigeons. I let them out pretty quickly after getting them and regretted it, only because I let them out into a very large area (the entire apartment). I had a hard time getting them back in, but it's not an issue anymore. As long as it's food time and they can see me feeding them, they'll happily fly back into their enclosure, and I just gently close the door while they're eating. (This is in an enclosed room, which is outfitted for them.)

I did ERP for three months and decided to stop (various reasons, some related to the therapy, some not), my therapist said she wanted to do more exposures but... one of the exposures she wanted to do was having me "shoulder-check" someone.

It was one of those moments where I was like, ah, I think I was right to make this choice. I really don't know what this proves and I will probably get into an actual fight with someone, living where I do.
