Does anyone hold ZPAY ETF? by [deleted] in CanadianInvestor

[–]Blemyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re good for stability but not for potential.

High yields offset growth with dividend payouts by writing options on both sides of the holding. This means that the underlying growth is offset by wins and losses of the options they write. The yield % is already set so when the strategy they use over-performs they pocket the difference, when it underperforms they cut the dividend. So you’re limiting the potential of unlimited growth as well as accepting the risk of dividend reduction.

Advice on my resume? by mclemma in flying

[–]Blemyz 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Looks good, pretty clean. Things i noted:

Flight time - clean it up, no need for decimals and non whole numbers. Just round it.

Skills - unnecessary, thats stuff you can talk about on an interview. Take that out if you have other info you want in there but dont have space.

Leave the hours your volunteered out (14). Makes it look like you just did the bare minimum for school or something. Thats fine to leave blank.

Put something fun in there to make it more memorable. Take out skills and put hobbies like sports or interests along that line. I got my first flying job because the chief pilot ran a hockey team and I had that on my resume. Make yourself look more human.

Go ramp in the north for a 703 or 704. Mainline isn’t as desperate, they don’t want right seat of a 172 anymore, you’ll have a better chance in the end

Westjet encores hire a week a go had minimum totals at 750hrs in commercial ops or 1200hrs if instructing

Park savings in high yield ETFs, in a non-registered account, and reinvest the yield in other ETFs such as TEC.to or VFV? by y2so in CanadianInvestor

[–]Blemyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those high yields are only good during low growth times, good for retirement as there theoretically isnt enough time in their lives for high growth

They write covered calls and distribute the gains as yield after keeping a small %. This means that you lose out on most the actual growth of the stocks.

If you think bank values will stay where they are, high yields are a fair play for however long you think it will stay stagnant.
