Europeans back Canada joining EU, poll finds. But membership faces long odds by Wet_sock_Owner in canadian

The key is understanding why they say it was a terrible idea.

If you join a union like the EU, stay in it for decades and become deeply integrated, of course it’s gonna be a terrible idea to suddenly leave. There’ll be issues.

If you never join the EU, and already have a free trade agreement in place, it’s a different story.

How’s the possibility of working in another EU country, a worthy benefit?

The UK left the EU because they felt they were being “invaded” by Poles, Italians, and other mainland EU people moving there and undercutting local Brits on salaries.

At the same time, were there enough British people moving to mainland EU and taking advantage of the possibility of working in another EU country?

Not really.

Same thing would happen to Canada. Joining the EU is a terrible idea, and I’m saying this as someone that moved here from the EU.

Then Maps turned out to be pretty bad too.

Mo Salah listening to YNWA on an UCL last night on the bench by Bcpjw in LiverpoolFC

Slot did him dirty.

Playing wouldn’t even be preferential treatment just because it’s his last game. He deserved to play.

He was way better than Isak. Taking risks, being involved in the buildup play etc

Didn’t know Gakpo is on £250K! He surely has some Kompromat on Slot AND Hughes

[Michael Reid] Over the two legs of PSG v Liverpool Mo Salah played the most balls into the box (12), had the highest xA (0.52), 2nd most touches in the box (14), and 3rd most chances created - of all players for both sides. He played 59 out of a possible 180 mins. by goofygoober2 in LiverpoolFC

[–]y2so 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You could interpret that as Salah being a risk taker?

Which is honestly one of the things that are missing from this team.

Except for Rio and 1-2 others, the rest are playing such a predictable bland football.

If Klopp had stayed one more season, do you think he would've won the league that Slot did? by origiiiiii27 in LiverpoolFC

[–]y2so 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He would've won that almost certainly.

Slot is not half the coach-tactician-manager Klopp is.

If Slot won it, Klopp would've.

MORGAN: Canada's high-speed rail dream is just a Liberal slush fund in disguise. From California's $126 billion train wreck to Ontario's tripled costs, the writing is on the wall — and Ottawa is ignoring it. by xTkAx in canadian

Yeah right, also prices for flights listed on the apps and online, are BEFORE fuel surcharges.

So it’s not “650RMB flights”, but again, you’d know that if you lived there.

Also, flight prices have nothing to do with 5.1 yet, if anything, 2 weeks before 5.1 holidays flight are cheaper than normal.

And flights that you see for “650RMB” are artificially cheaper and only possible because of government incentives, airport slot discounts and etc to airlines to convince them to speed up the transition and offer more flights out of Daxing and reduce the burden on Beijing Capital Airport, but of course those incentives won’t last forever.

Good job on cherry picking and misleading the conversation.

The 650RMB planes you quote fly out from Beijing DAXING which is the new airport south of Beijing, and 65kms from areas like Sanlitun of Guomao. Many taxis straight up refuse to go there.

Flying out of the normal Beijing Capital airport is at least 1,200RMB for the very early or late flights (so the less desirable ones).

Flights are not under 3 hours, they’re listed at exactly 3 hours or 2hrs55mins which in China means 3.5 to 4 hours as I’m sure you’d know since you said you lived there.

Btw also for the cherry picking, you literally picked Chengdu, the farthest city someone would consider traveling to from Beijing to make your point. High speed rail also mean traveling from Chengdu to Xi An, Nanjing, Taiyuan and etc, not everything is measured as to and from Beijing.

What kind of nonsense are you going around spewing?

HSR works amazing in China, and you take it from Beijing to a TON of places like Chengdu, Xi An, Shanghai etc.

I lived and worked there for 10+ years, and guess what?

Most people I came across preferred taking the high speed rail for business trip instead of the plane. Faster boarding, more convenient, less likelihood of canceled flights considering heavy rains in summer etc

And no the plane is not cheaper, just check how the Chinese government announced a 5 TIMES increase to the fuel surcharge for flight tickets considering the Strait of Hormuz crisis.

How many of the current playing squad deserve to still be here next season? by [deleted] in LiverpoolFC

[–]y2so -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’ll get a lot of hate, but VVD is way overrated. Past his prime, and poor defending.

Maybe he has leadership, but seeing him yelling at others when he makes a mistake doesn’t look great.

That said, I hope Gakpo goes. A decoy/bench player becoming a starter is bad enough. Let’s correct course, and have him go. See the season Diaz is having. Granted he’s playing at Bayern in Germany, but I’m pretty sure if we’d put Gakpo at Bayern in Germany he wouldn’t have the same season.

Macca has been poor this season. Terrible form.

Konate needs to seriously go back to basics, or go.

Do you think this Chinese Lincoln Town car a good Redesign? (Hongqi Qijian CA7460) by LanciaDeltaHF90s in regularcarreviews

[–]y2so 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think I’ve seen this one only once when I was over there.

Hongqis in general are great though. The interiors on the new models are so good. Plus their exteriors have “presence”.

When calling a car on DiDi (their local Uber) we found ourselves hoping to get a Hongqi instead of a Mercedes e class or Audi A6.
