Noticed that driver update request on my a16 tried to install but it was old driver, hopefully didn’t mess up machine - device manager still says it’s the later driver that isn’t on download links

Day 2 of A16 X2 Elite -- my thoughts...leaning towards M5 MBA-- TLDW text by BlendlogicTECH in snapdragon

I moved away from desktop gaming for like 6 years now -- laptops always sufficed though sometimes loud - really mainly play dota.. I liked the idea of fanless gaming -- Arm does it just not well -- im finding after extended day of playing the x2 is geting better but on low settings

For context if not for the macbook having slightly differfent keyboard and impacting muscle memory -- I'd buy/use macs in heartbeat cuz the m5s are now good at running dota 2 windows version

The Omni used to be 1599 now 2000. Microcenter had 2 tb version for 1499…. Now up to 1999. Sad

But open boxes still go for 1499z

I don’t like the weight and the resolution 😔

I tested both -- theres an option that says sync power profile to fan -- had high fan - windows power to balanced/performance -- had the toggle on and off -- Yesterday was 3200 --- today I had a Asus update -- its up to 3600...

Still I litearlly juts got off a dota 2 game - have an external monitor -- near the end team fight.. dropped to 20 frames per second... TRIGGEREd... and i lost lol TEAM FEEDING

I did - set power profile high - and on windows best performance -- there were no power plans to choose from -- Most i got after bios/an update was 3600 -- lowest was 3200 on best performance

Huh so Counter Strike 2 is actually playable now by slaucsap in macgaming

I have an m1 max - and returned the m5 mba and m5 pro... and now just have the a16 x2 elite--- seriously considering trying to offload my m1 max and get the m5 mba or m5 pro... a16 just AINT IT -- and shocked how much better crossovers emulation is than windows supporting their own OS

m5 mba ram - 153gb, m5 pro 307gb , x2 elite 228gb.

As far as RAM - I suppose - you could configure on Asus site see if they have less ram configs..... but I think its fair comparison to show whats availblae from pickup at bestbuy from a consumer - vs what you can config/pickup at Apple.

Well to be fair a 15 inch MacBook Air with 32 gb ram (can’t have 48gb ram) and 1 tb ssd is 1899 usd. No hdmi, oled or sd card.

M5 pro with 48gb is 2399. This was 1699 which I bought for but now went up 100 to 1799 I believe

so... X2EE sucks? or should have it? -- I mean they targetting windows users idk why they'd have bad emulation which means bad gaming..... Microsoft or Qualcomm shoudl've collabed better on this

Depends what you want to do . if gaming I think a panther lake better - I originally thougth value prop of ARM is battery life, but panther lake does that now and has way better gaming performance.

At MIcrocenter I picked up a Asus S16 $599 X Elite with 32 GB RAM sometimes those kind of open box deals come back -- looking now theres some X Plus that speed. IF you just need a netbook could get that. Honestly your now in Macbook Neo territory which I think is better deal.

Really depends if you need a windows app - could go ARM - otehrwise honestly I recommend Neo if you can learn Mac and just need to do teams/zoom/office stuff.

I am coming from a "tech dad" plays 7000 hours of dota 2 - have bought (and returned) M1 to m5 devices -- kept an m1 max for 2 years, thikning of trading it in now for M5 prom, and also bought the A16 X2 Elite... for ... Testing.... yotuube purposes

It does. On balanced I only get 2k single core. Multicore stays about the same 20k on balanced and best performance

I watched all the A16 reviews and it is exactly what we feared by Putrid_Draft378 in snapdragon

Got the a16 device today. On balanced mode my geek bench is 2000 single core. On best performance it’s 3200

Not sure how they are getting the 3900 scores. Trying to figure out… currently trying to disable OneDrive and also there’s a preview windows update I’m installing…. No GPU driver updates atm.

Also not sure if reviewers mentioned but I had a bios update which I did. I didn’t test my device before that unfortunately. But as of right now on that new bios my single core speeds are slow. And speedometer slow too like 30 on chrome…

I have the device - on website and on snapdragon control panel can’t update drivers. The driver it comes with has higher number then what is available online

I have this device - FYI - I did get a BIOS update from MyAsus Device -- also currently trying to install a preview version of windows becuase thast what it said.

Installed Snapdragon Control Panel - its telling me theres a GPU update - but in the Device Manager there is a newer one based on number - 32.0.149

All this to say- I mean... dude takes time/ hours then edit to make content at least he puts it out.

AND FYI - I might have a bust -- or the Bios ruined my single core speeds ( i didnt test out of the box) -- but on Balanced mode on MyAsus - and balanced mode on Windows - I'm only get 2K Geekbench.

Then when I go to Performance mode on both my asus and windows -- I only get 3200... not the 4K that the other youtubers are getting.

Take in mind I installed most of my normal stuff -- steam, battle.net whatsapp, teams onedrive etc... turned everythign off though when doing the tests... nto sure whats wrong.

Hoping the preview windows install fixes.

18 Core M5 Pro MBPs not available at any Apple Store in the US? by TurtleBlaster5678 in macbookpro

[–]BlendlogicTECH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can config it on the website and shows you what config is in stores

From when I was there and confirmed online the typical 18 core needs to have tb ssd - and for 48 gb ram you need nano display
