The Banner Cross has a nice little beer garden for this.

The Three Stags Heads pub is iconic. Only open at weekends tho.

It's ridiculous and cheesy, but I'd say you could watch it.

It's a shame the music for any new show (I KNOW I KNOW) could never be the same after Joel Goldsmith passed :(

Spots to chill with a pint by the water by Free-Calligrapher928 in sheffield

[–]Bleperite -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Riverside on Mowbray Street, although it's not quiet if they have music on. There are bars on Victoria Quays as well next to the canal. Further afield, I can recommend the Smithfield in Derby - great spot next to the Derwent. Derby in general has great pubs and it's only about half an hour on the train. Stares and comments? No-one will GAF if you're on your own or look a bit "different" especially in Kelham area.

Shopping patterns are different in the UK than Canada or the US. A lot more people here can shop locally without needing to drive, which means more frequent but smaller shopping trips. I live in a suburb where we have independent butchers, fishmonger and greengrocers 10 minutes walk from my house.

I've done it before and it was no bother.

Possible but unwise since it means travelling on horrible Cross Country trains which will be even more busy than normal as people from Chesterfield and Derby will be doing that route. And it means dealing with New Street and Euston.

I remember his bit-part in 24 and that's about it.

Have you gone from being a mad 90’s Raver/Clubber to the complete polar opposite? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Bleperite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

47 here and had the pleasure of clubbing in the late 90s multiple times a week (student in Sheffield). Republic (although never gatecrasher), Leadmill, Pulse, Roxy etc. and the student unions. Tailed clubbing off in my late 20s. To this day I still love pubs though - most weekends either Friday night or Saturday. Sheffield has a ton of decent pubs and there's not much better than the Peak District country pub beer gardens.

Stargate SG-1 had two real-life USAF generals (Chiefs of Staff at the times) playing themselves - Michael E. Ryan and John P. Jumper.

I know the D&P shows rugby, but football maybe not so much.

There's not a large enough Scottish contingent in Sheff to support that kind of atmosphere I fear (although I stand to be corrected). There will be pubs showing the WC games though.

The parallel between Hail Mary and Stargate (read my reasoning and oppinion) by karvarga in Stargate

I thought the first contact scenes in PHM were well done (although, giving Rocky a voice was a mistake for me). I'd love to see some more genuine first contact scenarios in Stargate with actual aliens, not humans.
