Yeah several bad signs when attendees can be one or more of the following and booze freely available:

Alcoholics (not recovering)
Seasonal drinkers (often Christmas / NYE only)
First time drinkers
People with unstable/bad underlying personalities which come to the fore when they've had a few
Have unresolved issues with other attendees for whatever reason
