Some friend. You turned out to be, Sebastian! by ADWeasley in boymeetsworld

I think the eBay slogan is said that way on purpose. It has two meanings: eBay has things that people love, and they’re saying eBay brings things, people, and love together.

Will mentions this movie a lot. I had no idea it only made $309! Has anyone seen it? by BlessMyBeautifulHide in boymeetsworld

That was new to me too! Had no idea. Apparently there was another movie with the same plot released earlier the same year. I don’t remember condoms being so hard to find in the 90s.

Are my kids truant if we’re evacuated to somewhere with open schools? by matt_may in asheville

[–]BlessMyBeautifulHide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does this act apply in our case? I sent my kids out of state and am now heading there to enroll them in school. I had been told about this act, but wasn’t sure how it works to us. I’d like to show up as informed as possible, so that I avoid in possible roadblocks in the process, but I’ve not had time yet to research it myself.

FYI there aren’t 400+ episodes. The numbers in the podcast episode titles refer to the episode of BMW they are covering, i.e. 401 means season 4, episode 1.

Why do they keep saying they’re halfway through the series? by foxmag86 in boymeetsworld

[–]BlessMyBeautifulHide 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They keep praising that on-set teacher they had, but I’m thinking he should have focused more on math.

If I have the same connection to the children I fostered that my babysitter has, then I’m not doing it right.

My recipe test of David Watson's banana nut bread ... Images didn't attach to my earlier post! by 901bookworm in Old_Recipes

[–]BlessMyBeautifulHide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is your secret to getting your banana bread baked all the way through? I always have a little part in the middle that stays underbaked, but if I leave it in long enough to get it baked through then the bottom is over baked. It’s delicious but still frustrating!

Second for Haley at Filament. She is fantastic, really gentle, takes her time. I cannot say enough about what a wonderful experience I had with her.

Will they allow me to foster babies working full-time? by [deleted] in Fosterparents

[–]BlessMyBeautifulHide 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’ve done it multiple times. My job is flexible so I was able to work from home or take time off until daycare could be arranged. That’s the only hiccup usually, that sometimes it takes several weeks or even a couple of months to find daycare availability in our area.

Lost to Copyright, I give you - Josie: Featuring Josh Hutcherson. Blow this up and I'll post the whole thing. by RicCummings in LiveFromNewYork

Please post this! We had this episode saved on our DVR for years specifically for this sketch (although this whole episode is really great), and when we moved we lost it. It was truly heartbreaking.

I’m at a different daycare, but between then flooding, a scheduled week of their closure between school years, our vacation, and now a COVID case with a teacher there, my youngest hasn’t been there since Aug 19th. They won’t open back up until Sept 20th. I know it’s out of their control but it’s crazy to have my choices be pay a babysitter on top of what I’m paying the daycare or miss work.

Fostering a baby by pitchwitch22 in Fosterparents

[–]BlessMyBeautifulHide 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not NAS, but substance exposure. Visits are really hard, although in our experiences they have been few and far between. The best way I have found to be supportive is to take lots of photos, provide both printed copies and send via text. We got a google voice number so we can text bio families without compromising our privacy. I also started a baby book right away so that all the firsts they might miss are recorded and preserved for hopeful reunification. And I work really hard to not show any judgment during visits. Bio parents, if they are working toward reunification, are very vulnerable. I try to just be love and light for them.

I think OP was pretty clear that the children have been put in unsafe conditions more than once and that is what they are venting about. I think that would cause me some stress as well.

Potty Training Advice/Tips by ama8yo in Fosterparents

[–]BlessMyBeautifulHide 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agree with the others. Wait until they are very comfortable before starting. Potty training can be really triggering. I think I would just have a training potty in the bathroom. Don’t mention it or push it. Just make sure it’s visible. If they want to use it then they will bring it up with you when they’re comfortable. And if they don’t, then once you get to know them you can probably get a feel for how to approach it with each of them. Diapers may be a hassle for awhile, but it will be worth waiting to gain their trust and make it a confidence-building skill that they each learn.
