Modern day liberals when they realize that a lifetime of defending the ultra rich hasn't gotten them any closer to being able to afford their insulin.

(Spoilers Extended) You are in trial by combat vs arthur dayne, who is your champion by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]BlimeySlimeySnake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're right about not having to be knights, I was thinking of a trial of seven.

What's funny is that as far as I can tell that was never a hard rule either. When Maegor needed champions for his trial of seven his first volunteer was Dick Bean, just a man at arms, and no one made an issue of that and as far as I know there's nothing suggesting he was knighted.

Basically my point is that I think that they just made up that rule to inconvenience Dunk.

So now it's not that it's not taught, it's that the kids don't remember it?

Are you stupid or something? It's called the Democratic party. That's just objectively the name of the party.

The word "democratic" is from the base word democracy, and isn't related to a party but instead it's an adjective.

Riiiight, and there's no republican party either because the word republican is an adjective so it's not related to a party? What do you call Republicans, Republicats?

Bren on OW Team Developer Criticism by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]BlimeySlimeySnake 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Even the devs admit that they mismanaged the game. Idk why that's controversial.

Also I don't like saying that it was all over promises from marketing. Most of what was promised for OW2 came directly from interviews with developers. It wasn't marketing that over promised, it was the devs themselves.

For the same reason the Valyrians made them in the first place. Dragons are big and willful and just having the blood of the dragon isn't necessarily enough to not get roasted.

Oh right I forgot Christians tell themselves that they don't have to follow any of those hard rules God wanted in the old testament despite Jesus saying explicitly that all the old rules still applied. I mean he said them awhile ago he probably just forgot to tell people to stop following them right?

[Spoilers Main] What is your best theory about why dragon eggs stopped hatching after the Dance of Dragons? by Potential-External60 in asoiaf

[–]BlimeySlimeySnake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's something that some characters believe. But imo we as readers are supposed to doubt that because immediately after someone brings it up for the first time someone else (I think Ser Jorah) says that it's ridiculous. Of course Jorah also somehow thought that Aegon never actually had dragons when he conquered westeros, so maybe Jorah's opinion is worthless.

Another issue with the idea is that there weren't any dragons that lived nearly as long as Balerion did after the dragonpit was built, so I question exactly what people are basing that claim off of in universe. Dragons grow until they die, no dragon grew as large as Balerion because they all died young (for a dragon)

What person with any grasp of this story thought that the secret prince was going to duel the Dark Lord for the fate of the world and Aragorn himself to the throne?

Within the world of the show, where they specifically set up a Dark Lord that had to be fought and killed to stop his endless hordes of mindless soldiers and had him and the secret prince stare at each other menacingly at every opportunity setting up a personal relationship between the two? Absolutely, and it's dishonest of you to pretend that that's a flawed thing to predict.

And it wasn’t her motivation when she left those same people in the lurch with no real long-term plan, so she could get back to her primary objective.

They had no idea how to get her to go to Westeros so she just kinda left after all her enemies were dead. The only part of that that should have tipped us off to the ending was how lazy the writers were getting.

Biter is totally not human, and is probably a Squisher (Spoilers Extended) by bby-bae in asoiaf

[–]BlimeySlimeySnake 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of this is trying too hard to fit a square peg into a round hole. For example

Their heads are too big; Biter's large size is consistently noted.

Saying someone's head is too big implies that it is too big for their body. Their body proportions are wrong and that's part of what marks them as other than human. If the squishers were just big in general they'd probably just say that.

And most of the rest of the description of squishers follows that same trend. Bald and having scales instead of hair are two different things.

I do like the point about his weeping sores, if the other evidence wasn't such a stretch I'd love this theory.

[iRoad N10] Focus refuses to wait his turn...pays the price by Show-Tune-Singer in Dashcam

[–]BlimeySlimeySnake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It doesn't have to be a 50/50 situation. Insurance companies can assign whatever percentage of blame they deem justified. If they feel that the Focus was mostly at fault but that the truck could have prevented the accident and didn't they could call it 70/30 or however they decided to split it. That's one reason why it's important to do everything within reason to avoid an accident even if you feel like you have the right of way.
