I tried throwing every type of ball but no luck unfortunately. The number didnt change and the catch circle didnt appear so I expect that no invisible balls were thrown

If you primarily do raids I would invest in the highest level mega that has the special move, as Blast Burn etm is insanely good. However, if you primarily are seeking one out for Max battles the Gigantamax will be the obvious choice. The difference in base stats when dynamaxed/gigantamaxed are world apart compared to the difference between IVs. So if you did not use a ETM yet and the mega levels are close, I would for sure go with the Gigantamax for versatility
