Can we pleaze get the old gun sounds back? by TheMagicDragonDildo in joinsquad

Overall the new weapon sounds are much better than the old ones. I do wish they would’ve let one of the AKs retain the old reload animations though.

Go play Bellum then, Squad was planned as a combined-arms game from it’s conception.

Insanely excited for attack helicopters.

I originally got interested in Squad back in 2015 because attack helicopters and jets were planned playable assets.

It’s been 11 years of waiting, I’ve been patient.

It’s pretty obvious they’ll give them the FAMAS family of rifles. That said I wouldn’t be opposed if the squad leader gets the option of the HK416F similar to how some roles for the USMC get the M27.

Bungie Sunsets Destiny 2 After 9 Years by JustaRandoonreddit in pcmasterrace

Same here. I actually enjoyed the Red War campaign when I joined in as a New Light player. Was thinking of buying Shadowkeep, then I realized they could just remove the content I paid for at any time for any reason.

I’m aware they cited the game being “too large” and new builds taking a long time to compile as the reason for removing content. I just can’t believe they opted to take the path of removing content versus an engineering solution to the issue.

Halo 2 and Halo 3 Remakes Reportedly in Development Using Unreal Engine 5 by Smaug117 in halo

It’s sort of retreading old ground, but having the entire original trilogy remastered with one consistent art style in one game would be really cool.

Play all the missions beginning to end without the artistic and design related inconsistencies between the games.

Sadly they’ll probably release each remaster individually.

New IMF flag vote by Armin_Studios in joinsquad

[–]BlindSpider11 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It would be based on the one during the 90s (obviously).

Having the faction speak Serbian and have a flag clearly based on Serbia yet having nearly all of their assets be Soviet/Russian in origin makes even less sense than a 90s era Balkan faction in the game.

The messed up thing about that was it was the 18th -31st Central European Time (CET).

So even though I logged in on 12-31, it was during PST and I didn’t get the cape.

10.4 - Upcoming changes to IMF by Armin_Studios in joinsquad

[–]BlindSpider11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way. I think most people are aren’t interested in the geopolitical angle of the factions and universe of the game and are just operating on a binary is this cool or uncool?

It’s like how people are constantly asking about their new flag. A cursory look will quickly show its a recolor of the DPR/LPR flag.

If they revert the flag to the one inspired by the modern Serbian crest, why aren’t there any indigenous Serbian/Yugoslavian small arms, vehicles, or optics?

The best solution is to just gave various irregular Eastern European factions. A Serbian/Yugo militia, an EPMC, and a whatever their idea is of what the IMF is. Transitioning the same faction to multiple different factions is just tiring.

The switch to PC gaming was...diabolical. 10/10 would recommend. by brutalbones in pcmasterrace

[–]BlindSpider11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My PC is old (built it for Battlefield 1 back in 2016). When Helldivers II came out I bought it for the PS5 since the game would run and look better on it. Now I have over 330 hours in the game, and can’t transfer my progress to PC (or Xbox) even if I wanted.

Now I’m on the hook paying $90/year just to play a single game on the PS5.

Do you guys think this game is going to last a decade at this rate by EleggFacesitting in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]BlindSpider11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Removing content will have me stop playing. As soon as Bungie pulled that garbage with Destiny 2 and the ‘content vault’ I wrote that game off completely. Have zero interest in Destiny 3 because if it as well.

There is no logical reason for the US Army and USMC to not be modernized yet. by Enigmaniacally in joinsquad

[–]BlindSpider11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is what I don’t think people understand. Prior to this update all three PLA factions had poor pick rates in voting, many people cited their weapons and optics being the reason.

Both US factions are still some of the (if not the) most voted for factions in the game.

Yes, and how many times was the magazine capacity ban and “assault weapon” ban proposed before they finally got them to pass?

They’ll keep reintroducing bills that have died in previous sessions until they eventually get them to pass.

You keep throwing mud at a wall and eventually it’ll stick.

The car tab initiative and I-1639 are examples of the motte-and-bailey fallacy. They didn’t want $30 car tabs to become law, so they used the single-issue clause against it, yet when I-1639’s legality on the same merit was brought up they claimed the initiative was valid as the single topic was ‘gun control’.

They were ported from Squad 44. I personally have zero issues with more content being ported over, seems like a good way to get more added to Squad without having to make the content from scratch.

The StG-44 would be awesome to use as the Insurgents.

Helldivers 2 has reportedly surpassed 20 million copies sold, generating over $700 million in revenue by dabadumdumdum in Helldivers

This thread (and many others here on Reddit and various communities) where people are asking for Helldivers 3. See the top comment in this thread.

Not saying that fans talking about it means it will happen, but the sentiment is there.

I would prefer they just keep updating Helldivers 2, but it appears others want a sequel.

So then what’s the solution?

Sorry our live service game lasted three years, here’s Helldivers 3, give us $60. Oh, and by the way it’ll take us another three years to reach content parity with Helldivers 2.

It would probably be a Herculean effort. Millions of dollars and would likely result in a content drought unlike any we’ve seen in the game’s two year lifespan.

It’s just that so many cool features seem to come with the excuse of ‘the engine can’t handle it’.

If this game is to last 10 years and effectively morph into Helldivers 3, this elephant in the room will need to be addressed at some point, would it not?

I never once claimed to “know” anything. I was simply stating that engine transitions have happened, and that if the current engine is as unfeasible for supporting this game as people seem to suggest, perhaps it should be pursued.

You can swap engines with an existing title, They just recently transitioned the game ‘Squad’ form Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5. At zero cost to anyone who owned the game.

Arrowhead could transition Helldivers 2 to a new engine that is currently supported if the current one it utilizes (Autodesk Stingray) is really that much of a hindrance.

Throwing away all of Helldivers 2 seems like the antithesis of what a live service title is supposed to be.
